i just saw my Nut for my 2 week post-op a few days ago..she told me not to worry about the calories im taking in but to only make sure i'm geting in my protein, water and vitamins/calcium and then approved me to move on to purees for 2 weeks. However looking at my food journal, im only taking in about 400-500 cal a day if im lucky..usually minimal protein range around 60g and around 20-30 carbs, and always getting in all of my water...and this is all before my 150-250 calorie burn from exercise daily...i was also told during a support group that im resetting my metabloism way too low to be sustainable. im certainly not doing it on purpose, its just what seems to be happening with me..any helpful tips or opinions, i def don't want to sabotage myself and my weight loss. but it just feels like i cant possibly put more of anything in my sleeve during the day

At this point you are doing very good by getting 400-500 calories. I was not getting near that until about 4 weeks. Just follow your Nut suggestions and you will be fine. Lucky you, getting that many calories in gives you a lot more energy to get that calorie burn. You will eat more as your stomach heals you are very swollen right now. Keep up the good work.

"Eat more often" was the best early advice I recieved. Particularly as you get fit and increase your exercise, you do want to fuel the machine. It's hard to get enough nutrition the first month. Once you're allowed food it gets easier to boost your calories. When that time comes, add a couple high protein snacks, string cheese and egg salad were early favs for me. Later, 1/2 a Quest bar. It WILL feel like you're eating all day long which is fine if it's planned, mindful eating and you'restaying within your nutritional goals. . If you're just looking for straight high quality calories, adding some avocado to your protein shake is a calorie\good fat boost you won't really taste. I did that for a few weeks till I could manage 1000 calories per day. You might also try a thinner or clear protein drink. Bottled Isopure is clear and easier to get down early on and Nectar products mix with water which can make them easier to tolerate than a thick shake.

At one month, my NUT told me to aim for 500-600 calories a day. That's because the stomach is still swollen and won't hold more that 2 ounces a setting.

I agree with the other people that you are doing well at this point don't worry about calories yet. You will most likely get to the 1000 a day soon enough. Until then water first then protein.

Your metabolism will reset slower with lower calorie intake - but when you start eating more, it will adjust to that too. I think you're doing great with your intake, definitely ahead of where I was at that stage!
