Motrin just once?

I know anti-inflammation drugs are a no-no after surgery but what about just taking a dose or two?
Pre op I practically lived on Motrin, post op (sleeve) I haven't touched it. Now I'm having back pain where Tylenol is not doing the trick. My Dr. Gave me muscle relaxants which are kind of helping but just wondering has anyone taken NSAIDs post op?

I get severe migraines and my primary dr told me is ok to take excedrin once in a while. She said taking 1 or 2 won't hurt. She said only when abused it will cause a issue.

I have arthritis in my lower back, and I also lived on Motrin pre-op! Physical therapy was critical to improving my strength and flexibility, and reducing pain. I allow myself Motrin when I get a deep tissue massage 1x per month (I take it before I go), and occasionally if I know I'll be engaged in an activity like gardening that's especially hard on my back. As the weight has come off (88 pounds so far), I've seen great improvement in my back pain.

I too get migraines. My doc said once in a while is okay. Silver lining is since I started this journey I have only had one and one NSAID did the trick (I used to take 3-4 or prescription before)

We have to be careful with NSAIDs because of having small stomachs. Like many medications a portion is destroyed by digestive acid In the stomach, we can get a high dose that way. NSAIDs are damaging to the small intestine and can lead to bleeding.

Depends on how far out you are from surgery, whether you're taking a PPI and whether YOUR doc recommends it. I've been told it's fine FOR ME occasionally. I'm over a year post op and taking a ppi 2xday. If Tylenol doesn't get the job done I occasionally go for an Advil, but it's never my first choice.

Thanks everyone. I am trying my best to not take Motrin but don't know how long I can go. I'll contact my doctor as well since I am only 5 months post op. BTW what is a PPI?

I don't usually take Motrin or Advil unless I have no other option, but every once in a while is ok according to my doctor

So my doctor gave me the green light, a dose or 2 is okay as long as I take it with my PPI (lol,
Now that I know what that is). I'm really hoping it does the trick.
