Tracking and FitBit on Vacation!

So I am going on vacation this Thursday for 10 days and I am so worried about how to track in MFP and use my FitBit. In CUBA, WiFi is horrible and very expensive so I will probably not have access to my phone or laptop. It is also an all inclusive resort of course so really trying to figure out how many calories I am eating is going to be very hard. I will wear my FitBit as much as possible and we plan on doing 1 hour speed walks each morning and also some swimming but I know I will have to take off the FB in the pool and ocean.
I want to enjoy my vacation and not stress over all this but I also do not want to come back and have gained lots of weight back after working hard the last 3 months to lose 17 lbs!
Any suggestions or advice on how to handle this and what I can do? Appreciate the advice as always. Thanks all...Rose

I had the same situation middle of Feb. All-inclusive resort, WiFi in certain areas only. I made it a point to move around a LOT...even if it was walking on the beach. I also made it a point to enjoy the fruit as much as possible to add in lower calorie options. I didn't track due to the WiFi but chose grilled options whenever possible. They also had omlet stations each morning where I could load it up with veggies. Learned to avoid the fruity drinks as they are loaded with sugar and "extras".0

Life lesson - eat reasonable amounts and move.
Any estimates of calories eaten are probably going to be about useless, so I wouldn't even stress attempting to log them.
Your Fitbit can only hold data for so many days before it's overwritten, so that may not be useful either. May be useful to just forget it too, instead of chance losing or breaking it.
Just be aware of the math. Fat is not fast, loss or gain. Only water weight is.
Look at your average daily burn right now with level of activity. Not your eating level - daily burn.
You'd need to eat 250 more than that daily to slowly gain 1 lb in 14 days.
500 more for 2 lbs in 14 days.
And while that may be possible, only 2 lbs, anything more is water weight.
So try to be at least as active, if not a tad more, than currently, and try not to eat too much more than maintenance.0 -
In the past 3 months im sure you've learnt what you can eat each day and stay within your calorie burn. Just try and apply that thinking.
Your fitbit can store 7-10 days (depending on model) of detailed stats and 30 days of your daily totals so you should be good.0 -

I am going on vacation in 3 weeks as well, will be staying at an all inclusive resort for 7 days. I have a Fitbit One and was planning on wearing it whenever possible. At least if I can see how many steps I've taken that day and how many calories I've burned, I will know if I'm on the right track at all. I know on "cheat days" at home, when I attempt to log them, they can sometimes work out to around 2300 to 2500 calories. So I'm guessing I will end up eating around that much while on vacation just due to the types of foods available and how much more I'll be eating (and drinking) compared to when I'm home. Not that I Plan on going crazy, but I do want to enjoy myself. I'm going to have some drinks - I'm going to have dessert a few times, I'll be eating bigger breakfasts than normal (even if I choose healthy options).
So looking at it that way, if I assume I'm eating around 2500 per day then I'm going to aim for burning at least that much by moving as much as possible (when I'm not laying in the sun or floating in the pool). In past years without the fitbit, I usually come home up 3 to 5 lbs and some of that is just water and sodium. This year, I'm hoping for less.0 -
What heybales said and I always bounce a couple of pounds after a flight, so keep that in mind and maybe give your body a day or so to get over the bloating that flying can cause.

I find I don't gain any weight when I go to Cuba, even if I don't work out and drink a little... The food isn't always the best, and find it hard to eat when it's too hot outside. So it helps usually... But I did gain weight when I went to Mexico though0
