I'm hoping to get some insight on insulin pumps and sensors. I have a medtronic pump. I use an enlight sensor.
My doctor says I'd like the deacon better. That her patients love it.
I like the enlige because it works with my oump.
I'm not sure about having another gadget to carry around. It looks small and I like that.

Help?

I currently have a Tandem T-Slim pump, which I am happy with. I had Mini-Med for years before trying something new. A pump is a pump in my opinion, as they all work similarly. Since Tandem doesn't have a CGM that works directly with it, like Mini-Med, I got a Dexcom CGR and I really like it. It's about the size of an older iPod Nano, in fact I've been asked on several occasions if it is was an iPod, and it's come in handy. I just completed the Avon 39.3 Walk to End Breast Cancer in April and I could not have done it without my CGM. Even with training for the walk, it was my best friend. The iPod looking unit has to be within 20 feet of the sensor, so I usually leave it in my purse when I'm out and about or at work and when I am home, I just make sure it's in the same room that I'm in and I haven't had an issue with it not connecting due to distance. The only time I physically carried on my person was doing the walk, and even then it fit into a pocket on my waist pack. It really does help give you an idea of what is really going on with your diabetes and even though my A1c is usually in the low 6's, after using the CGM, it's consistently right at 6.0 and I've even had some in the 5's - most recent was 5.7.

I would highly recommend looking into one and put the thought aside that you're carrying around another gadget. If nothing else, the extra gadget will help you in the long run and worth the extra real-estate it may occupy.

Thanks for the reply. I'm happy with my minimed pump. So, I'm thinking I'll stay with that. But I'm ready really good things about the dexcom. My enlite isn't always on target.
