Never ending stall

I am only 4 months out and have hit a stall that has lasted 5 weeks. I started kickboxing 3 days a week and resistance band training for 3 days a week - for 45 minutes at a time 4 weeks ago. I eat approx. 900 - 1000 calories a day. Any suggestions because at this point I am very depressed!

Many times when doing as much activity as you are, you will find you are losing inches rather than pounds. Each square inch of muscle weighs more than each square inch of fat, so as you lose fat and gain muscle the scale tends to not move. If you aren't measuring you might want to start and compare that to when you started. Also you might find your clothes getting bigger. My doctor told me as long as something is still going down (weight, inches, clothing size) you are still going in the right direction.0

You might need to eat a little more. 900-1000 cals isn't much especially doing exercise so high intensity. Kickboxing is super hard (I used to do it in my skinny days!) and needs fuel. As was mentioned above you may be swapping fat for muscle too- and muscle is 3x denser than fat. Follow docs orders of course but maybe mix up the cals for a week and see what happens? Keep up the good fight and all things will fall into place again!0

You may be losing fat and gaining muscle. Muscle is much heavier than fat. I am 8 months post op and have had stalls but the weight melts off eventually. Continue doing what you are doing and don't be discouraged. I mostly pay attention to the inches I am losing rather than the pounds.0

Might try eating a bit more and varying the calories day to day... 1000 one day 1200 the next. Agree, if you're working out a lot you may need a few more calories. Also make sure that you're getting adequate protein.0

Based on your workouts, I'd recommend more calories or even alternate (higher on heavy workout days). Make sure you are getting enough water and protein at 100g. I am 5 mo out and eat 1000-1300 cals.0

I was sleeved in June 2014 and started crossfitting in August. I'm down 70 lbs and very muscular but I hit a major plateau at about the 3-4 month mark. The scale didn't move for about 6 - 8 weeks yet I was working out like a champ and watching my diet. I did notice my pant size drop during that time so I assume I was putting on muscle and losing % of body fat. However, once it did move, it went down like 3-4 lbs in 1 week. I've found that when I hit a mark that I was at for a long time in my life, it takes a long time to get over it. I'm currently at 235 - 240 and I was at that weight for many years in my 20's. As I mentioned, I'm down 70 lbs but I haven't lost in over 2 months. However, I'm taking in about 200 grams of protein a day and crossfitting 5 days a week. I'm in great shape, very muscular and one of the strongest guys in the gym but I still need to drop about 30 lbs of fat and it's all in my gut. Legs, chest and arms are very tight and muscular right now. I'm hoping the Texas summer heat, crossfitting and keeping up with my diet will get me down to a muscular 205 by Sept or Oct. We'll see...0
