Hello all,

I just wanted to take some time and introduce myself. My name is Shawna and I am from PA. I am 32 and will be married to my best friend for 10yrs come July 16th. We have no children but we have 2 little Shih Tzu's that we love dearly. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have no idea what it is like to be healthy. I try and try and seem to always fail when it comes to loosing weight. I have a great support system that encourages me to do well and even participates in eating healthy and exercising but when I give up there is no tough love or push that says "no you are not going to give up", which makes it that more easy to throw in the towel. I will admit that I have a lack or motivation and pretty sure that if you look up the definition of lazy my picture will be there. Its funny because just the other day I said to my friend "when will I have my ahh ha moment". You know, that moment that when you read weight loss stories and the person says " I woke up one day and was fed up with being fat and the rest was history" and then BAM they are healthy. I mean I know it took hard work for them to get there but I just want that moment when my brain says "I am fed up". My biggest issue with food is that I don't eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I may eat once or twice a day and then over eat until I make myself have a tummy ache because I am so stuffed, also I am a fast food junkie. Funny thing is I do LOVE healthy foods, I love salads, yogurt, most vegetables, chicken breast, etc. but here is the issue, I am to LAZY to food prep and therefore find it easier to just go to McDonalds or Taco Bell. So enough about the bad and more to how I am starting my weight loss journey ....

So this time around I am gradually working my way into making better choices. I am taking one day, one meal and one step at a time. If I get ahead of myself I loose track and fall off the wagon. I actually feel mentally different this time around, its hard for me to explain it. At each meal I find myself asking myself if this food is the best for me and my goal I want to achieve. I am trying to walk and exercise more. Walking more than 5 mins straight for me is progress. Since I am very overweight (don't like the word obese) my lower back and calves hurt almost immediately when I start walking. I am however trying to push through the pain. I am using my myfitnesspal app everyday and I just ordered a Polar Ft4 w/heart monitor and I am super excited to see where my journey takes me. I am already down 5lbs.

Well anywho that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading and taking the time out to get to know me !!

Pennsfinest_32, welcome to the rest of your life. I too am a native Pennsylvanian but, I now live in Kansas (I vacation in Philadelphia every summer). I wear a fitbit flex and find that is motivation to push me to get up and walk every hour. I like seeing the number of steps increase and the fitness step challenges from others. Friend me and I will try to challenge you and you can challenge me. The road to healthy must be done for yourself and that is the "ah ha" key. When you want it, you will work for it. Keep the faith sister and keep up the good work.
