Need to rant

Need to rant. I went to my docs 2 weeks ago telling them I felt crap. I am exhausted all te time, cant get through the day without a sleep, really lethargic and achy. Got my bloods done and sneakily checked them at work so I know my ferritin levels are low. Got through to a gp receptionist today who told me my bloods are borderline for iron and B12 but theres no action being taken. So I said 'actually I'd like to talk to a doctor about my bloods because they are clearly having an effect on me'. She got properly snotty and said I couldnt have an appt til 15th June at 920 so thats nearly another 3 weeks feeling like utter dogshit while i move house and try to get through superhuman. And they wonder why people rock up to A&E. Ive been sneaky and gone to boots and bought some iron tabs, B12 and floradix and researched what I can safely take in terms of iron until I can see the GP but its ridiculous Im having to do this

Just be careful Lise. I'm sorry your GP doesn't seem to care enough.0

I'd probably try to see if I can call when that b-witch is at lunch. You did what I would have done. I know that cranberry extract helps B-12 absorption. Iron is better absorbed from foods (do you like pate?? and/or spinach - even creamed?), but I can't take it no matter what, so I don't know what helps it absorb.
I was told by my GP that if I only take B-12, it will deplete my other B vitamins. Have you ever heard that? Also, your anti-anxiety meds can severely interfere with B-12 absorption (about 50 types of meds can, but this is one of the top 5 worst), so make sure you stagger those by 2 hours. Over here, a pharmacist can tell you of any other interactions... The range that's "acceptable" for B-12 is so wildly swung it's insane. If you're borderline, to me that means deficiency, because if you're below like 500 or something, you're at risk of PERMANENT NERVE DAMAGE... But it's still in the acceptable range??? UGH.
I would probably check with some of your other superhuman folks about how to balance out the iron thing...surely some of them know, and it's likely to do with your heavy lifting and such (I seem to recall something about chocolate can leech it or something???)...so maybe a call to your nutritionist is in order, too, to help with foods balanced in those items???
Receptionists can get on a power trip... I'm sorry you got a shite one....0 -
Will come back to this later, not ignoring you as info looks interesting just patching up floor x0

I am under the impression vit c helps it absorb - iron that is. Ive actually got counselling fri am so gonna speak to someone face to face. I dont have the numbers for the B12 but my ferritin is 24 and normal range is 12-150 so I am not far off being out of range. And its making me feel rough. I literally cannot get through the day without a sleep or i feel terrible, I have no energy, my limbs feel heavy and/or achy
I cant see my nutritionist til after superhuman now as shes in america unfortunately hence just starting the tabs. Ive checked and the tolerable upper limit is 45mg. Im taking floradix, a multi vit and an iron tab which comes to 45.125mg so im bang on. Will continue til I get into doctor. Dont worry I am being careful I reduced the floradix from 20ml to 17.5ml to make sure I keep in range0 -
I knew you'd check everything before you took it and adjust as you go! I was NOT worried about that.0
