People need your e-mail address or public URL to add you as a friend. To find your public URL, log in at Fitbit.com & click your profile pic at top right.
You can also add people from Facebook, Twitter, and your address book: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-do-I-connect-with-my-friends-on-Fitbit

You can find your public url 2 different places.
Go to fitbit.com view your profile (click your photo or if you've not added a photo, the circle in the upper right).
Near the top you’ll see your public url which will start with //www. You will need to add https: to the beginning of it.
For instance, my public url is //www.fitbit.com/user/32NTMP you would add https: to the beginning so it would be
https://www.fitbit.com/user/32NTMP
You can also copy and paste it directly from your browser and wouldn't have to edit the beginning.
When you want to add someone, click the link or copy and paste it into your browser.
It will take you to that person’s page where you have the option to add them as a friend.
