My surgery and support staff group has a monthly bari support group that we all, both pre, post, and the bari-curious, are encouraged to participate. We have speakers, last night was the CEO of our local Y. We get a chance ask and answer questions as we all progress on our shared journey. Does everyone have similar support from their surgery teams?

My program has three support groups, two for pre and post surgery folk and one for relapse prevention intended more for veterans. for the main support groups, 1 is led by the program dietitian, and one is led by the program psychologist. The psychologist leads the relapse prevention group. I have been to the two main ones regularly over the winter. Unfortunately, they meet on Tuesdays, which conflicts with my golf league, so I didn't go to them pre-surgery, as all of my pre-surgery time was over the summer. When I went to them, I found them very useful, and find it nice as a complement to the MFP groups. Like here, we have a good mix of pre and post op folks so generally the pre-op people ask lots of question and the vets answer and show the wide breadth of experiences that are possible.

We haven't had many outside speakers, but sometimes they bring in samples of protein bars or powders, bariatric vitamins, etc. to try.

My program has two support groups as well as classes that deal with emotional eating, all led by psychologists. We don't often have speakers, but sometimes the surgeons from the group will attend, and sometimes they have plastic surgeons speak about skin removal surgery etc. I really like the support groups, because the people who attend are at all stages of the process, and I have found that I can learn from the people who went through this before me, and help people who are planning to have surgery or those who are not as far along as I am.

Yes- my program has a monthly meeting where one of the 4 surgeons will do a presentation on a wide variety of topics for about an hour, about an hour of open introduction and discussion, and a Q&A with the doc. It is really great info and I make them as often as I can (I live 2 hours from where I had surgery). Everyone is welcome- investigating, preop, postop, and your personal support team.

Also the bariatric psychologist that I met with does a monthly session that is a much smaller group, and is almost like a small group counseling session. I've done those a few times as well, but still is 2 hours away.

my clinic has a support group that meets monthly too. attendance at at least 2 of the meetings is mandatory pre-surgery and you are encouraged to attend after surgery.

My doctor just started a monthly support group for those that are curious, pre, and post surgery. The support group meets directly after the monthly required information class for those that are just starting their journey. As of right now he does not have a mandatory pre-surgery requirement, especially since he just started it.

My program has a monthly support group. Each month there is a different topic. Last month, it was about high protein snacks and we tasted all of them. This month, it's about getting through plateaus. I absolutely love them! I go every month when I can.

Since I have moved I need to find a support group.. Right at the moment however not having any serious issues. Just keeping myself focused to be honest. Working out , eating right, and still reading lots of new ideas here and a few other places...
