Stall or goal?

Forgive me-this may ramble on a bit. I have lost right at 100 lbs since my first consultation with surgeon a little over a year ago. Surgery was in December. Other than in the 1st couple of weeks post-op I haven't encountered anything I would regard as a 'stall'. The loss has slowed down but really been fairly steady. At my first appointment surgeon asked what my goal weight would be and I replied 'healthier.' I never had a hard and fast number on a scale goal--he and I were both fine with that. That being said, somewhere along the way I figured 180 sounded good but it wasn't based on much of anything except that it sounded like something I should be able to both attain and maintain. And the track-your-loss apps want you to put in a number so thats what I chose.
Anyway.....been sitting at around 183-185 for almost a month and I'm wondering if this is a stall or if I am done. This puts me at a BMI of 27.7-not that I put a whole lot of stock in BMI charts. I don't know that I have an answer. I feel better than I ever have before. I am healthier and more active than ever in my adult life. Overall its been a profound change. If this is where I stop I don't think I would have a problem with that. But I don't know if this is where I do stop. So my question is......how did you know when you were there?
My one caveat to this is that my GI doc says I've done great but I'm not there yet-but he hasn't said where 'there' is either. The thing that finally kicked me into gear with this whole process was a diagnosis of cirrhosis due to fatty liver. So, while there is not a tremendous amount of evidence tying outcomes to WLS when it comes to cirrhosis, his opinion is kind of important in this whole thing.

My surgeon said that the american heart association states that a healthy waist size for women is a size 12 or less so I needed to shoot for that. Currently I can wear some size 12's but not all. Heck some 14's I still can't wear. But I'm 5'3 and 185 pounds so I'm still 33 BMI which is Obese. I want to be a healthy BMI just because of the health history. I hate BMI charts with a passion mainly because they use them on children and it was really affect me personally (with my children).
I haven't really stalled much but my weight loss has slowed down a lot since Jan. Another 42 pounds would be a healthy weight BMI.0 -
I've wondered the same thing. I've been at the same weight for about a month now (172--size L or 12/14) and I'm pretty content here--but I'd also love to lose another 20-25 lbs and be "normal" weight according to BMI. At this point, I'm focusing on my running and not worrying so much about weight loss, although I still track my food and I still eat at a significant deficit. I think my body is just being asked to make some really radical changes right now and I keep thinking that there may come a point where the weight starts to come off again. But if it doesn't, I'm going to need to figure out how to lose those pounds or live with the weight I'm at.0

I'm right here with you, I also had the sleeve in December and have lost 107lbs and am thrilled with where I am but my original goal was 165 and I have about 5lbs to go. I've been bouncing between 168-172 for the past month, I feel like I'm so close, but am wondering if maybe I'm done. So, I can't answer your question, but I am curious what people will say because I am in the same boat0

I had my surgery in October. I have weighed 170 - 172 for 3 months now with no movement. I am going to do very strict low carb for a week and see if it breaks or if 170 - 172 is it for me. Wish me luck.0

I'm 4 years out and have been flucuating between 225 and 230 since the first of the year. Lowest weight was September at 222, and that was the last weight loss as well. At my 4 year check up last month I told the nutritionist that I wasn't ready to be done yet and she modified my calories and carbs and told me to touch base with the exercise specialist because I'm not moving enough. The doctor said he was happy with my results and I could be done whenever I was comfortable being done. I want to be somewhere below 200. The doctor said if I had all the excess skin removed I would be below 200, said just removing the stomach would get me there. I want to see that scale get into Onderland, so I'm going to keep trying. If these changes don't get the scale moving again, then I will have to accept that my body is having the last word and will schedule my tummy tuck. My BMI is now in the overweight category, I've lost 160+ pounds total and if I don't lose another ounce that's OK. I am a success right where I'm at, I'm healthy, I'm mobile, I look and feel so much better, so I'm not disapointed in the least.
I guess my point is, you need to be done when you want to be done. As long as you are not striving for some low weight that's unhealthy or impossible to maintain, then if you are happy with where you are right now, then you are done. It's all about being happy with your personal result.0 -
