Hey best friends!

So, I have been consuming Kinda Funny content for some time but never really got involved in the community and after seeing the "Team FIT" post I felt like it was finally something I could contribute to.

So here it goes - I am 26 now, 6'3" and I weigh 195 lbs and work out pretty frequently. I Am a full time student and work full time as well. In February 2011 (I was 21) I stepped on the scale and had a wake up call. I knew I was heavy, figured maybe 315 - after all I found myself getting most of my food from Taco Bell, drinking with friends and playing a ton of WoW - I wasn't exactly focusing on my physique. I just had no idea that I had allowed myself to get up to 350 lbs until I stepped on that scale and watching the dial spin around and finally stop and rest on the number. I had a bit of a breakdown and began dieting that day.

It took me 15 months of dieting to lose 157 lbs and I learned a lot along the way. I started off slow with exercise and built my way up but was very conscious of my diet from the beginning. Counting calories worked for me - paying a lot of attention toward limiting sugar intake and keeping my carbs lowish (100-120g of carbs per day) with a high protein diet.

I still work out frequently but am still hyper-aware of weight gain and am a bit of a basketcase in regards to what I eat (hey it isn't all rainbows and sunshine after losing the weight). I do have a loose skin issue from the weight loss which doesn't really affect my self esteem much. More of a minor annoyance than anything. Overall - I am much happier having gotten into shape. I feel great most of the time and really learned to enjoy exercising as a past time.

I can get into my specific diet if anyone is interested - warning: it is pretty boring, as I am easy to please and often eat the same things most days.

I lift weights frequently (4-5 times a week) but am not certified or anything. I can certainly provide some laymen advice regarding lifting/exercise and diet.

I can honestly say that it is easier the longer that you stick to it. I am confident that any of you that have weight loss/body re-composition goals can achieve them.

I look forward to being a part of the community guys!

Thanks!

This is absolutely incredible - awesome post man, I can't express how cool this is to see and good on you for doing a 180 like that! It's crazy how one little thing can set you on a journey - I had the same moment stepping on the scale and realizing I was not OK with it. You're awesome man, that's some seriously motivating stuff, so glad to have you be part of the community!
