I'm in the same boat. Advice- just go, even if you don't have anyone to go with. I've been to many live shows by myself, and these past two years went to Hellfest by myself. Of course- sitting in a field in France with 30 000 other people- you're not by yourself for long! Made some awesome friends and had an incredible time! And I'm not someone who is comfortable meeting new people- I'm very much an introvert and find it difficult talking to people I've just met.

Emperor was amazing. Just. amazing. :)

i'm also kind of an introvert, which is why i never really considered going to shows alone. Maybe I'll try it out. I'll have to keep an eye out for local shows coming up.

Awesome! I was over in the UK in December and saw Meshuggah again, on their 20th Anniversary tour. It was truly incredible.

So many bands! I will try to remember based on chronological order from whence I was a young sapling, until just last year. There may be more outside of this list that I cannot remember:

    Kiss
    Ratt; Bonjovi opened
    Dokken; Cinderella opened
    Dio; Yngwie Malmsteen opened
Metallica; Queensrÿche opened (Mindcrime tour, so good!!)
    Testament
Voivod (I was there for VV... RIP Piggy); Soundgarden opened
    Pantera
    Metal Church
    Crimson Glory
    Dream Theater (pre- James LaBrie)
    Fates Warning; Sanctuary opened
Alice in Chains; Screaming Trees opened
    Queensrÿche; Type-O-Negative opened
    Slayer; Unearth opened
Mr. Bungle (one of the best concerts I have ever been to!)
Megadeth; I believe that Fear Factory and Coal Chamber opened?
    Isis; Mono opened
Celtic Frost; Goat *kitten* and Byzantine opened
    Sunn O)))
    Lacuna Coil
    Children of Bodom
    Opeth 2x
    Opeth / Dream Theater tour
Isis; Wolves in the Throne Room opened
    Messhugah; Cynic opened
    Cynic (headlined)
    Pelican; Black Cobra opened
    Agalloch 2x
Katatonia; Orphaned Land and Swallow the Sun opened
Skinny Puppy; Front Line Assembly opened

There could be more, but these are the ones that stand out in my head. I will keep adding as I remember. This is spanning almost 30 years!

But If I had to pick out some notables...
    • Verbal Assault (Still my all time favorite hardcore band.)
    • Gorilla Biscuits
    • OpIvy
    • SNFU
    • The Exploited (Did you know Watty has a last name? I kid you not.)
    • Samiam (My car got towed that night -- Metro Chicago -- and Martin lent me $50 to get it out and drove us to the impound yard.)
    • SNUFF (Who were touring with samiam)
    • Godflesh
    • Neurosis (Set them up in '90s -- Word as Law tour -- and the club owner ended the show early but gave us free beer, which really didn't help me any because I still had a guarantee to meet.)
    • Unsane
    • Jesus Lizard
    • MDC
    • Monsula
    • Destroy (At the THD basement in Minneapolis. Jason -- THD records -- and I still friends.)
    • Jawbreaker (At the Speedboat in St. Paul.)
    • Dwarves
    • GG Alin
    • Christ on a Crutch
    • DRI
    • Slayer
    • The Cro-Mags (with Death, lost my hearing for 3 days.)
    • Fugazi (First tour.)
    • 7 Seconds (A tour or two before that crappy "Ourselves" LP was released.)
    • Clutch (Played my basement '92 with Four Walls Falling.)
    • Born Against and Rorschach - that tour in 92 or 93?
    • Brutal Juice (From Austin, TX. Brilliant intense band, only released one LP and EP.)
    • Ministry (Al was throwing out half-drunken bottles of Jack that night. Thanks!)
    • Gwar (1988? 89? They played with Old Skull that night. RIP J.P.)
    • Filth (East-bay gutter punk.)
    • Bikini Kill (At Gilman Street)
    • The Vandals
    • Circle Jerks (Watched Keith played pool that night. lol)
    • Oh and Naked Raygun

And probably dozens more if I could brain on a Friday.
