here's to a new week! The kid is go back to school tomorrow, so lots of buzz and excitement around here.
Thanks to all of you sent me some well wishes for my graduation. I don't know why, the craziness hasn't let up since I finished it. I quickly found more crazy things to take its place. But more on that later.
My weight is holding steady because I'm staying pretty low carb during the week. Saturday is my blowout day . I suppose I should be pleased because I haven't gained any weight. But I'm not the weight I want to be – so it's not as exciting as when you're losing.
I really need to stop focusing on these last 10 pounds. I'm doing a lot of healthy things right now. I'm going to work on being happy about where I am.
Hey, did anybody see Kim's pictures on Facebook? She looks great. She's been chipping away at her wait for a very long time. It's inspiring.
Heron, I wanted to ask you about that quilt. It was so beautiful. Did you do that by yourself? Do you use a sewing machine? I'm clueless to all that stuff – but it was really beautiful. I still have some blankets that were given to us when our babies were born. I treasure them so much.
OK so – let's keep moving our moneymakers! I have to figure out how to fit it in this week.

Carol: Love the pictures, congratulations!
Yes the yoga is helping.
I'm glad that you are not focusing on the last 10lbs. Life is too short to stress about trying to achieve perfection. We should all strive to achieve health, happiness and gratitude. Check out this page, very inspiring and real. https://www.facebook.com/healthynewskinny http://healthyisthenewskinny.com/
And they sell their own and feature other brands' flattering one piece swimsuits.
Yes I made the quilt with a sewing machine.
Depending on how much/big blankets you have you can sew them together or add borders around them to make it bigger, you can make quilts that you can use.You can even print picture on a fabric so you can even add a block that have your babies' picture. and every time you use the quilt, you will have fond memories of your babies' early days. And when they get older and have their babies you can pass the quilt to them. I've seen people do that with old baby blankets.
I don't FB but I have seen her making progress on MFP. So happy for her.
John, nice pictures! Looks like you had a good session. Do you like Shot Put?
Howie, lazy days are nice and you've definitely earn it! Hope you have another week of fantastic biking.
Even though the scale is not moving (I'm not stressing about it either, its just another measurement tool) I'm not too concern because the other day, I was trying on fitted dresses that were tight in the beginning of the year just to see how much more I still have to go before it fits. Lo and behold, they fit so I'm happy and perplex because I was 10lb lighter when I fit in those dress. Not that I'm complaining but just realize how weird body size and weight can be...0 -
Happy Monday Folks! Hope all is well with all of you. Yesterday was an interesting day. When I got up I felt like my R ACL had been tweeked a bit from Saturdays Training. Not real sore constantly just little pings when I moved a certain way. So took it a bit easier on the weight session Did some upper body dumbbells instead of my normal Full body stuff. Only did a 1 mi stretch walk etc. Anyway feels fine this morning so something to watch in the weeks ahead.
Heron Yep Shot, Javelin, discus all have Military roots, and suit my Neanderthal Body type. It's an event that I can train for as well so gives me some focus. Weight is just a number, since my blood test have shown me You can have blood that test out pretty darn good and still have a high BMI, I have patients that have BMI's of 18-20 that are long term care patients of mine with many issues including type II Diabetes.
Carol Congrats again on work well done. I would just add to the above by saying ask yourself daily how do I feel?, perform?, and look? Answers give both an affirmation of the positive and a direction for emphasis of the things that can be better. And yep saw Kim's Pics and yepper she is looking good.
Howie a rest day well spent. Keep it rollin lad.
All righty then time for me to hit it and get it. Morning 150 is calling me out.0 -
First day of school! Three different schools!! Here we go!

I'M BACK!!!! Back to school... means back to a couple of minutes in front of the computer... which means some accountability so MAYBE I can get my butt back in gear. I actually survived the summer including 3 weeks of being away from home without gaining... THEN I STOPPED BREASTFEEDING... and while I never felt like BF helped me lose weight these past 3 weeks have made it apparent!! I am up EIGHT POUNDS!!!!! UGH!!!! So, this week I am dropping carbs, next week I will get back to carb night. Being back at school (teaching PE) will increase my workouts too... so hopefully those lbs. will drop pretty quick. I have 9 weeks until I turn 36, so I am setting a lofty goal of -20 lbs. by 10/12!! Have a great week everyone!!!0
-
Hey Susan! Glad to see you back. I remember that breasy feeding was a huge factor in getting back to normal after my 3. You can burn an extra 500 calories a day, I think.
How can we put that out there as a new weight loss strategy for everyone? Lol!
Keep up all the great stuff- you're going to do fine & you're going to have a fantastic school year! I know it.
Hammer- love seeing your shot put pics & Gunrunner shirt!!0 -
Happy Tuesday Folks!
Welcome Back Susan, looks like a good plan 2lb a week is ambitious but doable, Roll on!
Carol - That is my competition shirt entered as a member of the Gun Runners Team.
Roll in on your targets hot today! Give em hell and the devil his due!0 -
Heron - here is a link Kim posed to FB this is a really good tool to sort out BMR and TDEE she says it lines up fairly well with activity levels on Fitbit.

Things going good here. I now have 132 miles on my new tires, and that is 5 more than I had on the last set before they blew. So I am hoping the higher PSI has made the difference and I won't have that problem again. I am just 32 short of making my goal for the month with 4 riding days left in the month. I take Friday and Sunday off.
Total: 208 miles
Goal: 240 miles
Remaining: 32 miles0 -
Susan, glad to see you back.
Howie, changing tires because is kind of a good problem. That means you are riding!! Yay.
John, I did all 3 as well. But Javelin was my favorite. I was pulled from a PE class to join track, they wanted me to be a sprinter but I wasn't fast enough ended up doing middle distance then was pulled to do throwing as well. Coach said I had the legs but not the heart to run. She was right, I didn't even like track.
I entered the numbers and I was being conservative, my TDEE-20%=2080 That seems high and scary.

Happy Wednesday Folks. Hope all is well with all of you.

Yes Heronh it is a good problem but to expensive to buy a tire and tube twice a month. There is also the problem it could cause a wreck if I were going down hill or in a turn at that time. As far as running I have never seen a runner with a smile on there face. LOL I don't know how people do it, I'm sure there are some that love running though. I liked walking when I could but really love riding just wish it was a little more comfortable for me.
I think things are looking good for Friday weigh in. This weeks treat day is being moved to Saturday. I am in a fantasy football leauge and we have our draft party Saturday. So cookout and beer.0 -
Happy Thursday.0

What's everyone's attainable goals for September? Let's empower each other (& ourselves) to succeed!! I will continue "shakin' my groove thang" to the tune of 20+ miles a week, while enjoying varied musical selection each workout. Also gonna do my own "sugar 'less' & stash the scale" Challenge. Tell me your goals & how we can best support you ... I'd love to hear!!! ~ DebSue0

Hey DebSue! Two goals. Get engaged (not talking the ring type). I have been off the wagon for too long which leads to me not being involved in the community. It really does help me and I need to remember it. The other one is to keep moving (running, walking, and strength training). I refuse to give up on this...I refuse to give up on myself! I am likin' the sound of this "shakin' my groove thang"0 -
DebSue, I like your idea to vary your music for each workout, that sounds fun! I just started a personal training certificate program at my local community college. My usual exercise routine is long hikes with 1000+ elevation gains, 5 mile fast walks, and a little tabata on a spin bike with some weightlifting mixed in. I have arthritis...I can't jump, run more than a mile, do push ups unless I use a push up handle to keep my wrists straight, etc. My classes require extra hours, and my instructors set up an obstacle course each week that students can do to fulfill their hours. I'm so intimidated by the thought of the obstacle course. Most of the other students are half my age and I'm afraid I won't be able to get through it. They do burpees, box jumps, net climbing, stuff with a sledgehammer and tires... I know you can skip what you can't do but I'll be disappointed in myself if I skip exercises. How do you guys and girls with arthritis or injuries manage that disappointment when you want to do new types of exercise but can't?0
-
Howie, twice a month is expensive! At the rate you are going maybe you should just buy in bulk. Lol riding a bike for me is already unconfortable, I can ever. Imagine how it is for a guy. I've spoken to cyclists and they said they experimented with different shorts/seats and you'll get used to it. Sounds like a fun party. Hope you have another great week of biking! Keep putting on the miles!
My goal is to see some more progress so I know what calorie range I should eat at. Also doing reintroduction to foods to see if I have any reaction to certain food.
I want to do 25 squats a day and just keep on moving.
My dog Rosie got into something and had bloat we caught it early and she is fine now but the vet bill is expensive.0 -
Amy, I finally worked out (A real CrossFit workout) for the first time this morning in several months. My shoulders and elbows are not what they used to be. And there's definitely disappointment because once I get into the workout and wanted to push myself like everybody else. But it's just not worth it. I did other exercises I am imagine my arms shriveling up but they won't.
I don't know, it's disappointing but i'm focusing on the fact that I'm almost 50 years old and I'm going to do a CrossFit workout. I think that's the attitude in a try to keep. Because my bones and joints are getting any younger each year.
DebSue-goal?? Let me think. I will let y'all know
Hope everybody had a great week!0 -
Hi Carol, thank you for sharing your experience. That's so great that you got in a CrossFit workout yesterday after a hiatus!! I agree it's not worth it to push through something when you know you're in injury territory. I'll remind myself of this when I'm all high on endorphins and about to do something stupid0
