So I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year (or year and a half idk), however I'm not under investigation for endometriosis, on the waiting list for a laprascopy.

I couldn't find an endo group on here, however I'm wandering if anyone else has a 'dual diagnosis', and what to expect from the investigation?

Thanks guys x

My sister has endometriosis, and I have PCOS. She doesn't present most of the "signs" I had for PCOS, but should could easily have it as well - just neither of us have thought of it. But, she's pretty active and has dramatically changed her lifestyle in the last decade, and the forced changes could be preventing most of these issues from surfacing.

I have another friend here who is struggling terribly, but she has Endometriosis, but not PCOS... I'm not sure what my MFP friend here might be able to share, but she's been through hell with it these last couple years...

My PCOS symptoms have dissipated since I went on Depo Provera (I have no monthly visit) but the suspected endo makes me get periodic pains in different areas throughout the month give or take.
I literally have no idea what to do because over the counter painkillers don't touch the pain, so sometimes I'm doubled over at work (being a carer it's a bit awkward at times).
One cancels out and the other gets worse. Because apparently when they induce a temporary menopause to slow the endo it can make pcos worse because of the hormone used. Cant win!!

That really sucks all around! My friend here @Goooosfraba333 is the one with Endo, and she describes it almost exactly like that, pain nothing can touch. She recently did an IUD to help with the pain and such, but it's still hit a miss. The treatment option they suggested was like 6 shots @$1000 each over 6 months or something... Feel free to shoot her a message if you want - let her know I suggested it. But like I said, she does not have PCOS that she knows of.

I'm wondering if Inositol or Vitex would help balance out the hormones that shift both ways and level you out in the middle?? There are a ton of threads here on those here in the last few months...

Yeah, look into some of the natural treatments for PCOS, there's a lot of crossover between the two with the mechanisms involved in the natural treatments.

Check out a low carb diet, especially, and avoid soy (check out Paleo variations of low carb, like the Primal Blueprint, if you want a framework, since many women report further improvements when grains are removed, too).

Here are a couple of anecdotes you might be interested in:

Also, an interesting study that was done:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3374872/

    This part is particularly fascinating:
Increased total fat consumption was associated with decreased endometriosis risk. Increased β-carotene consumption and servings/d of fruit were associated with increased risk. We also found a suggestion of decreased endometriosis risk associated with the consumption of dairy products, but this association was not statistically significant for the highest tertile.

What's really interesting is that according to the study, it didn't matter what kind of fat it was, even trans fat, they all decreased endometriosis risk (you should still avoid trans fats like the plague, because they do far more harm than good, but I think this very clearly illustrates the importance of fat in general in the diet).
