noooo, evites! Paper/card ones are so much nicer and poeple can keep them and stick them up on their fridges etc. We did our with Vistaprint, got a personalised design and I don't think it cost us more than £35 - They often have sales

Thanks for the tip! I don't think I had looked at VistaPrint.

I did e-save the dates with paperlesspost.com, which was pretty cheap (you can do free with limited options) and I really liked it because you can collect people's mailing addresses through the system.
But we're going with paper invites...I actually just designed mine yesterday on mixbook.com...you get to personalize every detail. I spent way too long playing around with it but I looove what I came up with. They're not too expensive and they have a coupon code up now. I'm going to hold off on ordering though since we still have quite a lot of time, and I'm sure another coupon code will come up in the meantime. We're going to have people RSVP via our wedding website (theknot) or email, so we save money on the rsvp cards/envelopes/postage and I always prefer when people request online responses since it's so convenient (so hopefully my guests agree...not many older people, so I think we're good).

we did email response too. Plus some people asked us to re-send the info via email anyway as they lost our extra info sheet! (wedding is in Italy and requires travel). I want a website where I can post information after I get all the R.s.vps and I don't want to use facebook, is that something you can do on theknot?

Yep, it's really easy to create the page on theknot. Very customizable with as much or as little as you want. You can lock it so you have to provide the link to your guests plus PIN so that strangers can't find it.

We did save the dates by e-mail but then sent wedding invite tea towels! They were less expensive than most paper invites!

That's a super creative idea! And the design is super cute! Good reminder not to keep options open.

Where did you get the tea towels made? What a great idea! I want to use it for future parties! My sister threw me a high tea sort of bridal shower and this would have been so cool.

Just realized I totally combined two thoughts to something I didn't intend. The two thoughts were: not to limit to cards/traditional and TO keep option open. Anyway, thanks for sharing the link.

I got my Mock up invitation kit and color swatches and we've basically picked our blue colors and I'll check in with my MOH for some final decisions since she is a graphic designer and will be doing the graphics for these :)
    So exciting!!

I also don't think I need all the components I was originally thinking, since I'm on a very simplistic mindset--casual/rustic and simple. Along with the graphics and wording we'll add basic embellishments like twine and... this is fun stuff!

Ordered our choices for invitation parts and now just waiting on design work from my MOH.
I had it delivered to our marriage officiant who lives in Washington to save on like $67 dollars shipping
(the joys of living in Alaska) if they get to her in the next couple weeks I should be able to grab them
when we are passing back through after Vacay, otherwise I will get them when I am down in March for work.

I forgot to post, that I got the parts of our invitations and picked them up on our way back from the cruise.
The wording for the invites, 2 inserts (reception and other information) and RSVPs is done and delieverd to the MOH.
Now just waiting for the final design results.
Asked her to have a couple done by the end of March, so that we could decide and then get them printed.
I want to start putting them together by Mid to Late April so that I can get the initial 160 mailed by Mid-May.
Since we live in Alaska and many would be traveling I wanted to mail out invites at the 4 month mark rather than 3...
    Exciting stuff!
