Managing panic, trying to abstain from "soothing" myself with food

Hi there. I have anxieties around health issues, particularly petrified of developing cancer. I tend to do alright until I develop what I perceive to be a symptom. Lately I have been dizzy and off balance and I can feel myself unraveling. I am working on this with a therapist but in the meantime, I am trying not to calm myself with my old standby, food. Any advice?

I go through the same feelings. I prep veggies every Sunday so that I have them available at any time I feel myself losing control. I actually begin with a cup of green tea and then a glass of water. If I still feel the need, I eat a container of veggies and then find something to do. This is usually a chore of some type. I tend to feel better if I can find something to clean or organize. Sometimes I sit and write things out or make lists of craft projects I can get into or goals that I have.0
