We are getting together with friends this weekend and eating out, probably at a steakhouse. What do I order that will satisfy me without breaking the calorie bank?

Is it chian steakhouse? Do they have an online menu? If so look at the menu before you get there already decide what you are going to eat. When you get there do not look at the menu stick to your plan of action.
For steak it will not break you calorically make sure you request no butter on it when they cook it, and also ask for light seasoning. Stick to a light salad dressing if you choose the salad, and avoid the free bread as it is empty calories. Also chicken dishes are a good choice just make sure you ask how it is prepared. Most places add butter to everything it is why food tastes so good when you go out to eat. Just be aware also that if you order the vegetables as a side they will also be doused with butter. Just a word of advice when you ask for these things be pleasant about it, make sure to say please and thank you, I know most servers will "forget" to put in notes about what you want if you make a big show about how you "HAVE" to have this and that. I am not saying you will do that but having worked in kitchen for years being pleasant and friendly goes a very long way especially if you have some changes you need to make to how food is prepared. Sorry if this is rambling on I have not woken up yet even though I am at work lol.

It is a chain, but I can't find their nutrition chart online. The chain is Kickback Jack's. They mainly serve burgers. Most of them seem to be half pound burgers lol!

I think that what I am going to do is allow myself to enjoy the evening. I think I will try to order something that I will enjoy, then I will slowly enjoy it and try to stop when my body says stop instead of when my mind says stop.

But I'm going to try to enjoy grilled chicken instead of a burger hahaha!

Thanks for the butter advice. I did not realize there was so much butter involved! I knew that, being a chef, you'd have the insider info. Thank you! :)

Not too bad! I had a chicken wrap, fries, and that was it. I ended the day about 130 calories over my goal, which I think is stellar! Really made me feel empowered, that I could enjoy a night out on my terms! It was awesome!!!
