Understanding what it is like a refreshing feeling. I recently told my husband that I get it that he does not get it because he is not built that way. I think he sees my sadness of being robbed as not understanding his side of standing in the hallway as they wheeled me away not knowing the outcome of me or our son.

Did you guys go through any counseling? It might help you both to recognize each other's grief and fear in this situation in a way that the other can understand and appreciate. I have to say things to my guy in a completely different way than I would need him to say them to me for me to really FEEL it and not just hear it. If you've never tried it, the "Five Love Languages" quizzes are quite insightful to communication each other "get" better.

We actually have the book Five Love Languages did a study on it at Church some time back. I found the book so insightful I bought the Five Love Languages for Children. Its not something we fight about as much as we have different experiences from the same event. It only really comes up when we have opportunity to share the story with others when relevant. And each time it is shared it brings up that feeling of something was stolen. I know I should not feel that way because so much protected that day also.

I take Saw Palmetto supplements to slow the hair growth down a little. It's pretty much my least favorite symptom.

I'm glad to hear all of this ^^. I hope you can continue to work on getting your feelings on it to where you want them to be, but saying you shouldn't feel a certain way is insulting to your feelings. :) If you want to change them, that's on you - and you're well equipped to do so from the sounds of it. Getting over my miscarriage was one of the hardest things I've ever done, as well as accepting not having more kids, facing secondary infertility... It occurs to me, why are most of my mental issues woman/mommy related? That's crazy. Guess there's more time for thinking on this front, too. LOL

I did actually do laser hair removal on my face a few years ago - I found it to be well worth it because it stayed gone for a few years. Nothing else works effectively to get rid of the hair. But it all grew back after a few years and I need to save up money to get it done again.
    - Once the hair grows, no amount of losing weight or dietary changes will make it stop growing - it is permanent; and even thin women can have hirsuitism due to this condition, so there is no point in blaming yourself. It's just the hormones. I am taking spiro and I sometimes feel it may have thinned things out a little but it may just be my imagination, I don't think it did much.

I get waxed regularly. It lasts a good month before I need to do it again.

Thank you - My husband does not get why I am sad because of this. We have three beautiful children and likely we would not have any additional at this point with the struggles even getting pregnant. But I feel that was a choice he and I should have made and not one made for me by the doctors. I get the why but it does not change how I feel that something was taken from me.

I definitely understand that. My husband never thought he was going to have kids so he feels lucky for the two we have. I, however, grew up as part of a large extended family and wanted lots of kids, three as the bare minimum, so I feel completely cheated by this syndrome. Unprotected sex for 8 years has not resulted in a single pregnancy. Now my kids are older (12 & 14) so even if I could fix it to get pregnant, it'd be like starting a whole new family and that's not what I wanted either. :(

Same here. I wanted a big huge family too. Like a bakers dozen but id settle for half a dozen. I got one. I love her I do but I feel like Im missing something in myself, like a part of me is missing. I mother everything i come into contact with but it isnt the same. Id love to have adopted, I didnt even need them to be my biological children but because of my one childs disability that wasnt possible either. The miscarriage I had in september was a huge blow and now my one child will be 18 in 3 weeks.

    Life just isnt fair sometimes.

So Just know there are many of us here who feel your pain and frustration and sympathize with you as much as we possibly can.

I use eye brow shappers on the patches of hair on my chin and neck! I don't have to worry about cuts and I can use them dry and quick in the mornings! I do have to use them almost every other day but it was better than bleaching hair! Those patches never fully bleached for me and they were always corse! So this was a good solution for me!

I had a coworker who recommended electrolysis from a well trained worker! She had it done in her 20's, went to complete all the treatments and has not had trouble since! She is now in her 50's no regrets! Make sure you do your research first though!!

I tried a lot of things, most didn't help at all. I was having to pluck my chin daily and the ingrowns were a nightmare. A home electrolysis kit didn't work and was difficult to use. Then bought a Flash n Go laser. Best purchase ever. I got outside consults but found it very expensive and so embarrassing. A lot is gone and can do touchups whenever I need to. Results take longer for me, assuming due to the PCOS.

Electrolysis from a person licensed to perform it is the way to go! I had extreme hirsutism and it took almost two years of treatments (you can't get all of the hairs removed in one appointment due to hair growth cycles) but it was one of the best investments I have ever made!

Unfortunately once you have hirsutism, getting your hormones under control does not make the hair dissappear. What will happen is that you will not get any hairier and you will have to find a way to fix the "damage" that has already been done. The places you have unwanted hair will continue to have hair but it will not be able to get any worse. Laser hair treatments don't give permanent results, only electrolysis can, and from experience, it works! Two years hair free! I feel so much better now that I don't have to pluck hairs or bleach every part of my face!

I had laser hair removal and it permanently got rid of the hair for me! Was the best thing ever, I contemplated it for awhile as I wasn't sure about the pain etc. I had tons of anxiety when I was about to have it - but it doesn't hurt. As the other girl mentioned, you do need a few treatments to rid it, I personally had 3 and that worked. But I hear the average is about 5-6.

Ladies, I have had great success with Softsheen's Magic Shaving Powder. I use it on my arms, underarms, legs, and face. I have very thick fast growing hair due to PCOS and have tried everything you can imagine to try and remove it. I found a video of a girl using this product on youtube and had to give it a try. I promise I do not work for softsheen. I just love their products. I use the skin conditioning powder with aloe and vitamin E. It leaves my skin soft and smooth with no harsh smells. I can go almost two weeks without using it on my legs. I use it on my face and arms once a week. This product has literally changed my life. It was developed for black men to help stop razor burns, but it works great for women too! I hope this post helps someone who was like me and getting desperate. I was in the middle of getting laser hair removal when I discovered this product. No more expensive hair removal for me. Not to mention the pain from the laser treatments and the hassle of going to monthly appointments. Now I just go to the local drug store or grocery store and buy my shaving powder for less than $2 and I am highly satisfied with my results!!!!

Up until a couple of years ago i used to have a clump of thick hairs that would appear on my chin almost daily, plus various hairs on my cheeks and around the corner of my mouth and i would have to pluck daily. Also used an epilator stick type thing that you roll across your face, kinda like a spring almost. Those things worked, but the obsessive daily routine in a mirror was terrible, and the state i would get into if i couldn't quite pluck a hair properly, i'd dig them out leaving cuts on my face. Also drank spearmint tea, as i had read some where that this could help... I decided to buy a phillips lumea precision ( it did cost me about £400 but i bought it through a catalogue company over a year on interest free credit) I was so worried because in order to use it, i had to remove the hair first by shaving, and people always say whatever you do dont shave because it makes it worse, but i was desperate. It took a few months to really make a difference but the hair seemed to become finer and eventually stopped appearing, so i stopped using and after about 6 months hair started to return but it is still resonably fine, so i have started reusing and its virtually gone again, well worth every penny for me. I also take metformin prolonged release ( as i suffered terribly on the other type) Been on and off metformin for at least 10yrs ( slow release for about 3yrs) during the 10 yrs i have managed to lose 8st so far, couldnt lose any weight prior to metformin. Ive still got about 6st to go so im far from weight managed. If you have the funds available its well worth the money, I swear by mine. Good Luck everyone xoxo

It is so wonderful to hear some of the successes you ladies have found. I was listening to a web show yesterday, and it was going on about how internet research and groups like this are the best way for people to gather information and apply it in their lives until the medical profession catches up with reality! "The Power of Crowd Thinking" or something like that was the name of the book referenced (or one of them). I found the who idea fascinating!

If I shave won't it grow back thicker? Also I have the PCOS acne so if I wax will i brake out more? I don't want to spend the money on laser scared it won't work like some have said it grows back.

Annoyingly none of the laser treatments will work for me (home or otherwise) - at least that's what I've been told because I have red hair. Lucky, right? Thankfully it's not terrible. I have to pluck some and shave some, but many have it far worse than I do. I just remind myself of that and I have tweezers everywhere you can imagine...

That is interesting! I have definitely gained a lot to add to whatever I learn from my drs/nurses.

I mostly pluck the hairs that pop up. I want to try the magic shave powder for my legs though. My leg hair is black and coarse and grows back so fast, yet my skin is very sensitive so I'm prone to really itchy, irritated skin (that can last for several days) and razor burn. I live in a hot, humid climate; it would be amazing to be able to just wear shorts every day without thinking about whether my skin can tolerate being shaved again so soon.

    Have you tried epilation?
