Family vacation

My family is 14 days away from our vacation to Disney. I am starting to get nervous about the amount of stress and availability of foods I will have access to. I have been really trying to do good with my eating and when we booked the trip we bought the dining plan and that was before I was diagnosed with BED. So there is that going on. I am sure I will be fine but am a little worried.

What is the dining plan? It allows you to eat at certain places for a certain amount, or what? I'm sure you will do great. Maybe you can look into menus in advance and preplan?

Try not to stress about your meal plan. Remember that you will be doing A LOT of walking, and it's not like you get to go to Disneyland on a regular basis. Try to have a good time and eat until you are comfortable and enjoy yourself :). It's a way of life, not a diet, so have a super time with your family :)

(Half of this post disappeared when I posted it... Kind of frustrating)

Dude! Enjoy your vacation! You are giving control to ED.

Here's what I do. Your model may vary.

    1. Eat the best that you can between now & then.
    2. Enjoy your time with your family.
    3. Take LOTS of pictures.
    4. Splurge on souvenirs.
    5. Enjoy the food with as much moderation as you can muster.
    6. When you return home, be prepared to jump back in with both feet and do the work of getting ED out of your way.

I can guess that your fear is that if you let go while at Disney, you won't be able to reign it back in. That's what I'd be afraid of. Don't let fear rule you. If you want, you can take me with you and I will smack food out of your face. I'm willing to sacrifice on your behalf because hey! I'm a good friend like that B)

I'm just envious you get to go to Disney. I haven't been on a proper vacation since 2003.

I have to admit, I thought about offering to take your place. I do have some issues with other people's children though. Unless they are

But somewhat more seriously... try to trust your medication. And just try to be mindful of what you're eating. Vacation is no time to be stressing about what you eat.... Just try to enjoy, without going berserk. I can't quite believe I just said that in the BED group.

Thank you. I think it is more the stress factor but my sons doctor finally called to set up his evaluation so hopefully he can get some tools to help him settle himself before we leave.

Disney is one of the few places that didn't stress me out.

I spent a lot of time walking.. (no thoughts of food).

For an average meal I ordered the children's version. primarily so I would get fruit on the side, not the French fries.

Also, if an option. I would split a meal many times with my husband. The portions were large. Trust me, my husband doesn't like to split meals - this was very doable.

And if you have the meal plan it might not be as important. I kept looking at the prices. it kept me in line.

Finally. There were very few places that really tempted me. The food just isn't that good (IMHO).

    Get up, walk. ENJOY.
