Getting through disappointing weigh-ins

Ggggaaaahhhhhh...... I know all about normal fluctuations, water retention, etc... But I e worked really hard for the last ten days to kick start the weightloss journey again! I know this past weekend wasn't optimal as far as eating and exercising, and traveling by car doesn't help, plus all the sitting, but I really thought I'd have dropped at least a pound. And N.O.T.H.I.N.G... It actually went up by a few ounces.......... Makes me wonder, have I hit the age in which it's going to be a tumultuous effort to drop pound by pound?!?
I guess I'm so tired from the trip that I'm taking this harder than I should.... And I knew I probably shouldn't weigh myself today with everything going on the last few days, but stupidly, I thought maybe it will be a happy start of the week!
Makes me wish so badly I could be content with where I am and just quit this whole thing..... Gggrrrr....

I can totally relate! Been there many times!
Are you working out? Because measurements could show different ! a Pound of muscle takes up less room than a pound of fat so if you are gaining muscle you wouldn't know unless you take measurements That's why I posted a thread here so we can all take starting measurements and then compare at the end of each month because the scale (even though we all think it is) isn't everything! DO not give up!0 -
@NadiaMayl its ok! If you keep up the good work you WILL see results. It took me 8 months to lose 18 lbs.. it wasn't the 2lbs/week I was hoping for but I was off and on with tracking and exercise. But the changes we are making are meant to be sustainable and more of a lifestyle change and that will always net results over time! Hang in there!!!0

I have been working out. The last 3 weeks more constant. I do spin 2-3x week and strength training 2x week. And I try to get at least my 12000 steps daily.
I have been overwhelmed with too much 'expert' advice. Both from my own research and trainer at the gym. So I think I'm over-complicating things making it frustrating.
For example, I've been told to eat pre and post workout by the trainer. But I'm not hungry, post workout. And then I feel frustrated because I could've used those calories in the afternoon when I really need them.
So I've decided to go back to basics. Eat healthy, three main meals and some snacks as needed, keep my caloric intake in check and drink a lot of water. Plus working out, of course. I hope this works.
Thanks for your encouragement! No fun feeling yucky about lack of progress.0 -
And I do need to take measurements!!! Just been very busy with this past weekend trip!0

@ Nadia, I have lots of unexpected fluctuations too. But it sounds like your schedule changed with traveling, that's likely what messed stuff up. I mean...hellooo you do spin 2-3 x a week and strength training, you are going great things. Spin is an insane calorie burn, thats awesome. I not only don't feel like eating, but i feel nauseated after class sometimes. its just so intense, but its SO FUN!! Im sure you'll see the scale drop soon, what you are doing sounds great.0

Thanks Allie! Hehehe I could very well hear your "helloooo"! Made me giggle! I love the insane spin classes, it's so obvious when I'm having a strong day because I'll burn up to 700 calories (according to the polar watch wearing the HR monitor adjusted to my own metabolic assessment)! Compared to "meh days" like today, I 'only' burned 500!!! Kicks my butt every time, but always feels so good to do it!0

Aaaahhhhhh..... Relief.... Water retention is easing off... Went from 166.2 yesterday morning to 164.1 this morning! Phew... That means I did lose 1 lb this week!0

It's also part of living! The parties, the traveling, the 'I'm PMSy and all I can think of is chocolate', we pound through them, with support!0 -
