Foam rolling

I tried foam rolling, but I found that the body weight motions were too hard for me. Not only could I not support myself, but the pressure of my 200+lbs coming down on the roller was intensely painful, and not in a good way. Are there variations that don't involve having to support my body weight? Maybe rolling a dumbell handle on the muscle or something?

You could get a muscle roller stick, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Massage-Fitness-Soreness-Recovery-Relaxtion/dp/B01CQ4OLKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463060970&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=muscle+roller+stick&psc=1
Or you could use a broom/mop/wooden dowel to do the same thing.0 -

just try it out for yourself to get the answer to that question. none of us is likely to know automatically whether it's right for you.
fwiw, i do a lot of stuff up against a wall with some kind of ball, for areas where gravity gives me some kind of problem.

The first question I would ask would be
Why are you foam rolling?
This isn't me saying that it's bad, but what are you attempting to accomplish from it?0 -
I'd be foam rolling as part of a warm up, like the agile 8 series and similar routines.0
