Aruba and my lifting

Rob and I are going to Aruba May 28 through June 4 (leaving Friday night and have a layover overnight in Newark). So I'll be gone from my basement gym for 8 days. We're staying in a little boutique, so no gym. I know I'll get plenty of cardio work in, but the lifting will be missing. I hate the idea of losing ground, but I know it's going to happen. What do you do when you can't lift...just let it go for the week and deload when you return, or do you try to maintain by doing body weight exercises (like push-ups, etc.)? I will likely just let it go this time and try to stay active. I get really nervous about skipping because I have a terrible habit of falling off the wagon easily when that happens. I just really hope I can keep my perspective and hop right back in when I return! Aside from that, I can't wait!!

Have fun on your trip! I'm not an experienced lifter, but my guess is that you'll probably need to deload slightly upon return. My first priority would be enjoying my vacation - the rest can wait until you get home. Have fun! :flowerforyou:

I think body weight exercises would be great. A lifter friend is traveling now and she is doing that and finding it challenging. Pistol squats & one legged DLs are also challenging. Enjoy your trip-I'm jealous!

I'm doing SL and use the app. Back at the beginning of April, between work and being out of town, I missed a week. When I went to do my workout and pulled up the app, it said I had missed a week and recommended I deload by 10%. I kind of played it by ear, based on my warmups. I think I deloaded on a some lifts and kept some the same.

Have a blast on your trip!

Yeah, I've missed a week before and the app told me what to deload. I'll just roll with it and do what I feel like doing :)

I say - do the bodyweight exercises, if you feel you must -but mostly, enjoy your trip! I've heard Aruba is awesome! You'll get caught back up when you return. You'll be so refreshed and hopefully caught up on sleep!

Thanks guys, I'm just going to make this trip a relaxing one and not worry about it. We'll be on the move a lot and that will be good enough
