Gardein or other protein substitute..question

Just curious if anyone uses Gardein or some other brand meat substitute crumbles or other product? I am slowly getting back to eating real meat (successfully ate most of a small 93/7 burger patty and 1/2 grilled chicken breast this week).
If so..does it taste just like meat, and is that a true protein vs a protein that is more carby like beans and lentils? Need to add variety but want to steer away from carby proteins because I think it is preventing me from losing as fast and I stopped eating the carby proteins once I started this journey and lost 37 lbs before surgery because of these changes and I want to keep that lifestyle up. Appreciate any feedback!

I've used "Beyond Beef" beef crumbles. They are a pea protein. They do have more carbs than meat...because yeah, science...but it's only 3 grams per serving. I really enjoy them. These are the most neutral tasting crumbles I've tried. I can't do soy, so if I want a more veggie day, this is the way I go.0

Good to know - I think 3 g of carbs is doable
though not sure I have seen that brand here but will look

Got the crumbles...hope I like them! On a happy note, I am eating grilled chicken..WOO HOO..hopefully I will be back on my normal pre-surgery eating pattern so that I can speed up some of my losses
Not complaining - down almost 48 lbs since I started but feels like my body slowed down after surgery since I had such difficulty with meat and was more able to tolerate carbs...and I go back to working out tomorrow!!!

So happy to hear chicken stayed down! Yay! Hopefully you'll get moving and things will GET MOVING!
You're doing great!0 -
Sadly the chicken didn't stay down..probably didn't chew it well enough..though I did have 2 small teaspoons of ice cream and didn't feel well after that so could be a combination of the two. Gonna have the grilled chicken again tonight since we made lots of it yesterday. No ice cream for me - not even a tiny bite!
I did work out this morning with my trainer and that felt awesome! Planning to go spin tomorrow0 -
How'd the leftover chicken go???0

It was good! Had lunch with a friend yesterday and got a salad with grilled chicken, chipped egg and some shredded cheese. Are about 1/2 or less. It stayed down though!
I am going to make EmilyBites chili cornbread bake for lunch this week using the Beyone Meat crumbles

Ok so I made the EmilyBites thing and tasted 1 of the beef crumbles after I turned it into chili and personally did not like the texture...first bit was good then reminded me of sawdust...definitely give it a try but was not for me so it went into the trash. Now gonna make the Skinnytaste Orange Chicken makeover...that's a great site!1

Sorry you didn't like them! Now I have to google Skinnytaste!0
