As always, hard word does indeed pay off. I need all the inspiration I can get especially this time of year. I haven't had a SL workout in a week. Must start back up today or tomorrow.0

Just for sake of updating and to encourage women to keep lifting: I hit my goal weight of 120 about a little over a week ago. Switched to maintenance calories and have been consistently eating more. I've really concentrated on keeping my protein up. I'm running the PHUL program and love it. Today I am at 118.8 lbs. haven't seen the "teens" since I was a teen, lol. I have abs, now, too!

You look fantastic! Congratulations on your hard work and dedication! Your results should encourage others to continue working hard.0 -

I feel like a stalker because I just posted in the Halp thread about you but seriously. Your progress is so inspiring. I am 40.5 (lol), 5'1" and 138-ish pounds. I have been lifting heavy for about 15 months and have muscle under there somewhere but really really want it to show. I think I need to get a bit of a cut going. But the days I lift I am so hungry and get the shakes if I don't increase my intake those days.
Where do I even start with the cut? I'm eating around 1550 on off days and 1900 on lifting days.

I started a 16:8 fast (IF) and that made all the difference to me. I chose .5lb/week loss on MFP and I aim for my deficit calorie goal. Only having a 8 HR window to eat in makes those calories much more luxurious! Thanks for all the kind words.0

Sumiblue, I feel I need to confess to you as well. I am still so inspired by your progress that I posted your after pics in my home gym. I promise I am very sane and even kind. So much so that I try not to even hurt a flee as long as it's not inside my home. LOL! But as I've already said, you personally give me the most hope because our stats are so similar. Lots of people seems to think it's over after 40 (in terms of a fit body) so you've shown me that my goals are very realistic and achievable. Also, I promise to remove them from my wall once I see enough results to know that "I got this". I hope you don't mind it.1

@DDHFree , oh my goodness, that's sweet! Wow. I'm glad my progress gives you inspiration and I don't mind at all. I'm touched, actually. I don't think age matters at all, except that maybe our lifestyles change as we get older. We don't have to give up. Once we decide to do the work we are winning0

Thanks Sumiblue! When I achieve my goals, I really hope to pay it forward.0

Now it's 8 months past my SL anniversary & I'm still lifting. I'm doing a 4 day split routine and extra glute-only days. Walking & hiking for cardio.
I'm wearing a new "active style" bikini and plan to wear it on the beach this Summer. I've lost quite a bit of fat from where I was in
my first photo in this thread. BF% is 20%ish according to hydrostatic test. I'm maintaining now and enjoying the extra calories!6 -
You look awesome! Yay for summer.1

@Sumiblue , you look absolutely fantastic! I'm 46, 5'2" & currently 126 pounds. I need to lose a few pounds. Been wanting to start lifting weights but wasn't sure if I should opt for Starting Strength or Strong Lifts. I am so glad I read your post. You are SO inspiring! Kudos for all the hard work - it shows because you look amazing !!0
-
Both are great programs, though I've only done SL. Starting Strength gives you a lot of info. You are starting off lighter than I did!1

I'm now doing 5/3/1 and did PHUL after SL. Still doing the big compound lifts:OHP, bench, squats & deadlifts, my accessory work includes planks & Russian twists with a 25 lb plate. I've always had a strong core due to a physically demanding job but I lost enough fat to see my abs.2
