My name is Rebekah, I am 24 years old, and I am from Charlotte, TN which is just right outside of Nashville. I am not originally from Tennessee, I am from Illinois but moved for my husband (then fiancé) we have two beautiful girls together.

I grew up not necessarily fat but I also wasn’t the skinny one either, family was always the ones to tell me I’m fat which made me very self-conscious about my body. The first diet I went on was in third grade, and kept going on them off and on for years and years but this time is different, this time will be the last, because I don’t want my daughters to grow up feeling the way I felt, I want them to be free from this, I want them to feel beautiful no matter what weight they are at.

After gaining 20 pounds with my second daughter a little over a year ago, I end up gaining 30 more pounds while on a birth control for a year, I am off of it and now I have maintained my weight, so I decided to start this weight loss goal. My plan is to lose 50 pounds by March, which I don’t think is impossible but it will be hard. So far I lost 3 lbs. in the past two weeks and will be checking every week on Tuesdays.

One of my motivations are at every ten pounds I lose I buy myself something that I normally wouldn’t buy, like a pair of shoes or get my hair done, but my final present to myself after I lost 50 pounds would be a weekend away with my husband, we never had one with just us two so I am very excited for that and that also why I chose march to lose all the weight because that our anniversary, so it would be perfect time for that.
  • hi my name this rosemary christain that want to health need help with it
  • My name is Deb, I am 55 yrs-old, I want to lose some weight, & I love Jesus! I started my weight loss journey last Jan, joined a gym in Mar, & lost 30 lbs by June. Since then, I have only been going up & down a few lbs. I would like to lose another 20 lbs. I feel so much better since I have lost the weight I have & been working out. I feel stronger & healthier, but I know I could feel even better! I want my body to be a strong temple for the Holy Spirit to dwell in.
    Good Luck everyone!
    God Bless,
    Deb :flowerforyou:

    Hello Everyone!!

My name is Brandie, a 25 year old professional who lives in Miami. I just started my work out journey yesterday so I am a newbie. Never was the one into working out or dieting. I have always been slim and tall growing up but since I have gotten older I have noticed a weight gain due to an all new and slower metabolism. Would love to get down and MAINTAIN my high school weight which is about 25 lbs lighter than what I am currently so that is what I am doing, that is my goal.

Any workout plans that you suggest please feel free to bring them my way. So far I have been running, lifting weights and doing some ab work but if anyone suggests doing other things please tell me, I'm all ears.

Safe journey everyone and live for you, no one else!

Hi! I'm Tara - a Christian wife and mother of 4 who is tired of being too big for all the clothes in my closet. I'm hoping that being part of a group will help me on my weight loss journey. And Brandie, my weight loss goal is 25 pounds, too!
  • Hi, my name is Betsy. I'm from Chester County Pa. I'm 55 and am finally achieving some of my fitness goals this year. I have had some workout related injuries in the past and was trying different types of diets without success. I also had knee and foot pains which kept me from progress. I prayed for God to give me an answer. Now I am losing weight and seeing results from my fitness plan. My pains are gone and I feel strong again. PTL! I would like to lose another 40lbs I think and add some more muscle. I hope I can be an encouragement to the group. :)
  • My name is Kaylie Magana. I'm 19 years old and I'm currently in college to become a Nurse and Cosmetologist. Christian and dedicated to God and my health. Nothing is better than joining and supporting others in their journey to become/stay fit. (:

My name is Trey, I'm 34 and live in northeastern South Carolina. I just resently got back into church because I wanted my kids to know who God and Jesus are. After attending a small local church I realized I needed to be there also. I always thought my walk with the lord was a personal journey, and it is but the study of the bible in a group setting is something I was needing. With that being said my weight loss journey was inspired by my kids also. I want to be a good role model for my kids and being fit is a great thing. I have gained a lot of weight over the past 10 years from lifestyle changes and injuries. My starting weight at the first of this year was 285. I'm shooting for 185, wish me luck and God bless.

Hi, Brian Godwin, my first time to post in a group for MFP. Not sure if this will appear on the message board or go just to you. Guess I'll find out when I hit the Post Reply button.

Hey there! Kim Bickel here. Age 51. I'm a teacher from central Indiana. I've found that without accountability I tend to cycle in and out of my goal range for fitness. Love connecting with others here who are committed to improving health and caring for themselves in a way that honors God.

Thanks for starting the group, Brian.

I'm glad to see people also share my same goals and hold similar values as me. I used to be on MFP this past summer and had great success with it. As soon as school started back and after all these holidays, i quickly went up close to my original weight again. I just started using this again and it would be nice to have motivation and help from anyone especially on nutrition. This past semester, i started getting big into church and was recently baptized. I ultimately want to become a physical education teacher, a coach, and a personal trainer. I think God want to use my talents of sports and training to help spread his word and get people involved. It would be wonderful to be able to combine two things i love already and make it into a lifestyle and a living for me.

    Good mornin everyone,

My name is Sadrac and I am 37yrs old and my wife and I work with the youth at our church. I have been overweight for as long as I could remember. Just the begining of this year is when I got more serious than I have ever been about loosing weight. These past couple of months have not been good for me though as I lack discipline. I have no desire of going back to the person I use to be or the weight I was before. I honestly feel with all my heart that part of my calling is to help people loose weight. I was never addicted to drugs, alcohol, pornagraphy, but I was addicted to food. I would think of food constantly, even after eating a good meal I would think of what I was going to eat next. So as i am in process of being set free with the help of God I will be able to help others and give God all the glory. I guess I could go on and on and on but I will stop there. Feel free to add my to your friends list with a message.

Praise God, I am open ears to any advice as well. There is a website that I enjoy looking at as well. She is christian women who encourages ppl to loose weight but spiritual growth comes first. It is called www.peak313.com and maybe some of you have heard of her already.
  • Hi, I'm Melanie. I have tried many diet plans and only Weight Watchers worked but I got tired of keeping track of points. The weight stayed off for 2 years and then I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I have no energy for exercising, but I know I need to do it. I came across this book, Made to Crave by Lisa Terkhurst . The book is about how we are made to crave by God, but crave Him, rather than drugs, alcohol, sex, or food. She uses prayer to help her overcome her emotional eating. There is a quote in the bible that I keep on my desk, "God is Faithful, He will not let you be Tempted beyond what you can bear. 1Cor10:13." At first, I thought that being overweight had nothing to do with God, but I do think that staying healthy and not succumbing to food to comfort yourself beyond what you need to be healthy is like any other addiction. It's just more acceptable -- as can be seen at any church pot luck! If anyone can help me, I know it is God. Lisa says something in the book about food, "Everything (any kind of food) is permissible, but not everything is beneficial" when it comes to eating so I've been trying to tell myself this. The book is not a diet plan, she suggests you choose whatever healthy eating plan makes sense to you. Basically, when you crave , you pray instead. Has anyone else been following this book?
  • Good luck Trey! Sounds like a wonderful goal!

I really enjoyed that book. I did not finish it but I read several chapters in there and it is really good.

    Hello,

My name is Gretchen and God has brought me a long way. I lost about 50 pounds and for the past 2 years I have been trying to get down the last 35 pounds. I am not giving up, and I know God will see me through this. I have been doing better these past few weeks even with the Holiday. Each day I need to go to God and ask for help and direction, not only in my eating but in every area of my life. I am 36 years old and just finished my first half marathon in October. I felt so alive when I finsihed it. I am very thankful. I am looking for friends to join me in this journey! I will cheer you on along they way. Please consider being my friend. Thank you,
    Gretchen

  • Hi Everyone,
My name is Ralph and I'm starting my journey today with the help of the Lord to get healthier and loose 50 pounds of unnecessary weight.
I've been a gym rat my whole adult life (I'm 67…..yikes!) and am familiar with the pain and joy of physical challenges. I have achieved some great personal goals: black belt in karate in 1978, 100 mile bike ride from Boston to Provincetown in 7 1/2 hours in 1991, I became a certified Bikram yoga teacher in 2002 and I play to a nine handicap on a pretty difficult golf course.
Over the course of the last five years I've had some minor physical setbacks: both achilles tendons surgically repaired, gall bladder removed and surgical repair of my left rotator cuff. All of this resulted in my becoming fat due to inactivity and laziness. I just got down from the aches and pains and gave into them.
Now that I'm recovering from my rotator cuff surgery 5 weeks ago and am starting physical therapy today (praise the Lord) I feel like I'm ready to tackle the fat and start walking and light workouts. My doctor recommended this website as an aid to the effort.
Looking forward to doing it with all of you.

Goodluck with your recovery! this website is very good, especially with tracking nutrition and helping you realize the appropriate amounts of everything you should be in-taking! Start off back slow and your your way back up to where you know you can be. God bless you!

Hi! My name is Julie. I'm married to a God fearing man who waited 38 years old his life as a virgin. We have a beautiful daughter. We're both looking to lose 100 pounds,... each. Yes, each. We've kind of (not kind of) packed on the pounds.

Our Anniversary is in January and so is our baby who is turning 2. We are going to be taking a Cruise and we'd both like to lose as much of it as possible.

We'd love to have some extra motivation or encouragement.

In pretty upbeat and positive so a lot of people don't think a person like that needs much encouragement. That we've got it taken care of, but deep inside we do. We spend so much energy on encouraging others that it sometimes drains it out of us.

I'm so glad there is a group of believers on here!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Please add me!
