good morning gentlemen - my youngest dog is strange. It's hard for the vet to do an exam because Archie keeps licking him in the face LOL. you might try a prong style pinch collar for leading a larger dog to somewhere she does not want to go. I'd recommend trying it in the backyard to get the hang of it.

another birthday party tonight, this time at a mexican restaurant - I LOVE mexican food. I'm planning my pre-party foods extra careful.

Im pretty excited to be wrapping up week 5 of C25k this week - already it feels like an accomplishment.

Good Morning. Things are cooling off. Only 98 for the next few days. I waited till 8pm to walk. It helped a little. It will probably be the same tonight. So excited. At least the scale is showing some appreciation.

    Good morning gentlemen.
Took a BIG hike yesterday. This one ended up being more of a test than a pleasure. I hiked way into the Olympics and climbed to a high pass looking out over the interior of the craggy range. That was the good part. Then I had to hike back. My GPS tells me I covered 29.3 miles. with 3,940 feet of climbing (most of that on one, steep, 3-mile stretch to the divide). That is the longest one-day hike I have ever done, by 6 miles - and I have been hiking for 55 years. Everything is sore today. On a positive note, a phone app says I burned through 4,800 calories.

Terrific hike Dave! Sounds awesome. Funny how fitness levels are so relative. Some find it hard to walk around the block 5 times. And even those who are fit, there is always more. Saw a movie about "The Eiger", toughest mountain in the Alps, how so many died trying to summit the north slope. Finally a few were able to, and then some more, taking several days to climb it. Now there's a guy who does it in 3 hours or less, because he trained like an olympic athlete for a year, on top of his usual mountaineering work. Amazing.

Am home making dehydrated meals for upcoming camping trips. A breakfast meal I precooked last night, grits with bacon eggs and cheese (mush) is 33 points per serving. At least I know when I am out and can still track. Used the WW app recipe builder, very handy. Jerky is next, then beef stew. Staying in my AC apartment mostly these days.

Yikes Dave that IS a lot of hiking! I think my longest backpacking day was more like 15 miles and a couple thousand feet of climbing or about half as far.

True Mike true. One of my friends who is amongst the fittest on the planet and with good genes holds the record for climbing Mt Hood and has summited many iconic himalayan Mt incl Everest several times etc. I think I have good aerobic genetics too but have used mine for bike rides up to 220 miles in a day (7 double century rides but not recently). Always struggled staying with great hikers with my gait etc.
