This is a fresh start, and since we may be adding new members to the group, why not start by introducing ourselves briefly?

Hi, my name is Moshe, 41, married, father of 4. Sedentary work on the computer all day but try to work out a few times every week and practice Karate twice a week in a dojo. My biggest challenge is nutrition, not so much the quality (although it's still an issue) but more the quantity (apparently there is such a thing as too much of a good thing). My goal is to lower my BMI to a healthy standard, look better and get to a physique that will help me improve my karate. Looking forward to meet you all in here, share and support each other.

My name is Sue. I turned 40 this year and have a hectic life with children dogs work and a husband who's away a lot. I'd like to continue to loose weight and get fitter. I enjoy a lot of activities like kayaking swimming cycling walking but also eating too.

I'm MJ, 48, very stressed teacher, mother of two teeanagers who, together with my students, keep me busy all day. But I do find time (not as much as I would like) for my hobbies... playing music, reading, watching movies, and for the last couple years, going to the gym. I've found out that running on the treadmill, doing workouts, and attending zumba and salsa classes really help me balance my mind, on top of improving my health. My biggest challenge is not to give in to compulsive eating when I'm tired, or stressed, or ... and to navigate my physical limitations with car, in order to push myself without doing any damage to this rusty machine of mine in the process.

    Hi I'm Rick (RangerRickL),
I'll be 66 tomorrow, August 13. I enjoy my life, work, outdoor activity and my fitness program. I am the happiest lawyer I have known. Horses are my therapy and passion. I to count calories & stay active to keep from ballooning up. My primary goal is to stay within my current 5 pound weight range. My biggest challenges are "trigger foods" like pizza; salty carbs; and just plain fun meals with family and friends. My home is a farm about 50 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, in the middle of the USA

Hey all.. I'm Dave. I live in Western New York - about an hour's flight from New York City which I visit 3-4 times a year.

I've become an exercise nut over the last couple of years. I have home gym which includes a Spin Bike, Concept2 Rowing Machine, Treadmill, Weights, bench, etc.... Am totally into Hammer/Chisel and a couple other Beachbody programs. I DO NOT get involved in their food programs or Shakeology.

Besides exercise and hanging on MFP, hobbies mostly include music and hanging with my family. Been a drummer for 40 years which I did professionally for 6 years back in the mid 80's/ early 90's. Now that the total industry has changed, it's nothing more than a hobby. I also study classical clarinet at a local music conservatory.

Love craft beer too but am conscience about the impact to my daily intake so I do my best to moderate.

I work from home (a gazillion hours) so I'm sitting ALL day. Always look forward to my daily workouts.

Hi Dave! I used to be a singer, but now I just do the occasional gig. My hearing abilities have suffered in the last couple years, and I've lost some of the confidence and enjoyment that I used to get from music. My husband plays drums in a band, and my son has started playing guitar and he's a natural, so I decided to take a new challenge next year and start playing bass guitar. We have some real fun playing together! :)

That's awesome you can enjoy it as a family. You have one up on me, I've pretty much given up gigging altogether after playing them since 1984. Work has dried up including studio work.

Did you lose hearing from music? I know I sure did. No hearing protection back in the days when I used to play all the time.

At least you still find a place in your life to enjoy it on some level.

Is the club scene still vibrant where you are?

As for club scene, live music has been facing very strict restrictions from the townhall in Barcelona, so it's hard for clubs and musicians to make it work. Even playing on the streets is restricted nowadays. :/

About my hearing... I think it's more related to abuse of ear phones, and also constant noise in class. But doctors haven't been able to diagnose so far. The thing is my ears have become oversensitive, and I have to wear protections in situations where people seem to be perfectly happy with the volume. Also, in rehearsals, for example, there comes a moment when they stop responding and I start to not understand what I am hearing... Key, voicings, ... It's frustrating.

Wow, I can certainly understand how you would be frustrated.

Do you have access to good hearing specialists where you are to help diagnose what's going on?

Nope. I might find some if I really looked, but it would be awfully expensive.
