Boxing workout

Hi everyone - I'm new to the boards, and I'm happy to see a specific boxing discussion! I've been going to classes at a Title boxing gym, and I love it, but I'm trying to figure out how to log my workout on the myfitnesspal app. Classes run an hour, and they include something like 40 min of bag work, interspersed with bootcamp-style strength exercises (lunges, crunches, pushups, etc). Is there any easier way to log this other than trying to remember and list out the individual strength exercises? Do you feel like the # of calories the app says you burn doing bag work is the right amount? (Seems low to me.)
Thanks for your help!!

Hi! i go to Title too! where do you live? I am in KC.....i have been going there 2 years. i created my own exercise and just call it Title Boxing....then use my HRM to figure out calories. as i have gotten more in shape, my calories burned have gone down....but on average i burn 650-ish in an hour. that depends on the trainer too.0

I just log boxing as "boxing ring general" even though much of a traditional boxing class includes other activities. The number of calories you are burning really does depend on how much you are putting into it, so no, I don't think the MFP estimate is accurate. It would be like only having one option for running, even though sprinting and jogging have a way different burn.0

I do not go to Title, but my MMA gym boxing class does the same thing -- bag work interspersed with cardio and abs and such. Good question. I log Boxing punching bag. I think it rings up to about 400 calories for 50 minutes. I am not sure if that is correct, though.0

it seemed low to me too (calories for bag work) but then I got a heart rate monitor and now that I wear it I can tell you, MFP is indeed right on. my boxing gym (LA Boxing) sounds like a similar format. I log the burpies/mountain climbers/push ups as "circuit training" which is pretty accurate (per my HRM).0

I go to a Title as well. I wore my heart rate monitor for one workout. Then I just made my own and called it Boxing. I logged 565 cals in 60 minutes. I think I'll wear the monitor for each trainer, since each one has their own routine. That way I can get more accurate. I just hate wearing that thing all the time! lol0

I log it as "Boxing Punching Bag" as well. I have always wondered how accurate it is, but I don't really pay all that much attention to it. I don't end up eating my calories back, so it's not a huge deal.0

SAME HERE... glad to see this post.. I love Title boxing just joined a week ago. I was told 6-10 calories per minute. Not sure how to log it here. I'm doing a GUESS-timate.. at 500 calories. I'd rather come in lower and if more are burned GREAT!!!0

Title clubs seem like a decent place to start.0
