LeJog - The Scenic Route

Planning a Scenic variation of Lands End to John o'Groats in September, 1100 miles over 8 days (possibly with a rest day chucked in depending on weather), I've stuck together a full route and would love any advice any of you may have on doing something like this, especially with the route.

I know for some on here this is no big deal but for me it's a big undertaking, just three years ago I was more a couch potato then a endurance cyclist and this event was unthinkable back then.
Additionally a few people now have asked me if I'm doing this for charity so I figured if I can then why not, chosen Cancer research in memory of my girlfriend Adriennes mum Joy Ellis who sadly passed away last year and my dad who is currently battling the effects of a tumour.
This is a first for me (apart from a 24 hour sponsored snooker I did when I was 16) and unlikely to again, my fear is I'll raise naff all so help prove me wrong smile emoticon For the charity donations here is the link: https://www.justgiving.com/Jason-Savage3

good on you Jason - it looks a interesting route, certainly less direct than the one I did years ago - further, and tougher roads to boot (though IIRC at least you're not carrying all the camping kit on the bike like silly-bugger-me did!)
As to the Charitable aspect - I get what you're saying, I've done a few things in my time that have been to raise money for various causes - though back then it was usually going around face to face with a sheet of paper and a money-box to get the donations - at least the justgiving website is a simpler way to collect the readies...
I think you MAY be surprised at how the donations will roll in...

I hope so, it's a once never to be repeated kind of thing, the time invested in training is probably not something I'll want to do again, the daily distance and route should hopefully inspire the charity donations, you can follow my Strava to see if I'm keeping up the training https://www.strava.com/athletes/3024626 and I'll be updating the above mentioned blog during the event.0 -
are we having a "live tracker" during the event so we can heckle you

Almost at target now, currently standing at £487.20 raised so far for Cancer Research, thank you so much to everyone who have supported this so far, might even go above target at this rate with just over three months to the challenge start date. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Jason-Savage30

Really chuffed, to say the Just Giving page was only setup 24 days ago and we've hit this already is just bloomin fantastic, here's hoping it goes even higher, I'll keep plugging away at the training and upcoming rides like this Saturdays 320km training ride (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/13785025) will hopefully keep giving it a little visibility and boost.
Examples of endurance training so far can be seen here:

Page created for next weeks event, over a year in the planning and training, thought it would be nice to have one place to stick all the updates, pics, rides and hopefully raise a little awareness for the event and a little more for the Cancer research charity:
