I have a hard time posting and thought I already did yesterday but I don't see it so here goes again. I did it! I was sleeved on Monday morning. The first night was rough with dry heaves all night long. Tuesday and Wednesday were better just trying to get fluids. Thursday and today I'm actually feeling pretty good although I tire easily. I am getting enough fluids finally. But I am hungry. Just plain hungry. I've completely stuck to the liquid diet and no intention of cheating. I'm so afraid that when I'm released from the liquid diet on Monday that I'll overdo it. I know it's mind over matter but this is tough. I'm hoping when I can eat some real puréed food that I'll feel more satisfied. I've actually been following a pretty good eating plan for about six weeks having lost 20 pounds plus before surgery so I know I can do it. Don't know why am so afraid. Anyone else sleeved this recently?

If you try to eat more than your healing stomach can handle, you'll wind up extremely uncomfortable - or even back in hospital. You can do this!! It's head hunger, not REAL hunger. Keep drinking water. All day long. Add flavors if you prefer them. Go to The World According to Eggface blog for some great suggestions. I liked mashed black beans with a bit of shredded cheese on it in the puree time - full of protein and VERY filling. And Greek yogurt - I eat a lot of that, still. Good luck!

Yesterday I was released to the pureed food stage. I think did eat a little bit too much for the first day. Not too much that I got sick or anything but I did feel uncomfortably full. So today I just did herbal tea and liquids all morning. I had about 4 bites ( from a baby spoon as suggested by the nutritionist) of pureed cottage cheese with peaches for lunch and about the same amount dinner. I guess there's a learning curve for sure. I love being able to post about this because nobody in real life wants to hear how many bites of cottage cheese etc that I ate!

*Many* times people who are sleeved who feel really hungry are actually having excess stomach acid (heartburn but different symptom). Have your doc recommend/prescribe an antacid and take it regularly for awhile... it can really, really really help!

Oh and there are different kinds, so take his recommend but if it doesnt work ask to try one that works differently.
