Fitbit overestimating steps

I'm sorry if this is discussed elsewhere... I didn't see a way to search.

I just got a Charge 2. And it's grossly overestimating steps taken. It logged 30 steps just while I was in the bathroom standing at the sink washing my hands. Are there any tips or tricks for getting it to function more normally?

thanks!

Yeah, that can be an issue. One way to decrease the amount of non-steps it picks up is, if you wear it on your non-dominant wrist, say that you're actually wearing it on your dominant wrist. I'm right-handed, my Fitbit is on my left wrist, but it thinks that's my dominant side.

Yeah changing the settings is what i did too. I'm right handed and i selected that i wear my fitbit on my right hand and that I am right handed, but i wear it on my left wrist.

    ok.. thank you!
I'll take any help I can get. :)
Now I just have to figure out where in the settings I go to change wrists.

I did all that too. It didn't work for me. I just take the step count with a grain of salt and keep Fitbit and mfp unconnected.

I'm thinking about switching back to my clip on Bella beat. It didn't really have this issue. I have the blaze now.
