Happy New Year UAC-January Members!
Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. I can tell you that it is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

Hi, This will be my first time doing a challenge with MFP. I am really excited. I love the accountability aspect and the community.5

Hi
I've been on MFP since August. I've lost about 13 pounds and my weight is currently yoyoing around 200 and 202 lbs. My ultimate goal is to get down to 130. But for now I'm focused on getting under 200.
I do Pop Pilates mostly and try to eat clean and stay hydrated.4 -
I just joined MFP this month, December 2016. My goal is to lose 130 lbs in 2017. Big goal, big wish, big dream, big commitment, big will power, big sticking to it. In order to complete this goal I'll have to stick to my diet and exercise plan everyday from day 1 to day 365, and of course continue exercising and eating right to maintain into the future. I want to finally lose this weight and hit my goal weight. Right now I love this challenge because I have such a long way to go. I want to look to the finish line but I also want to make small goals along the way to feel like I'm accomplishing things as I go! So each month I want to drop 10.83 lbs. This isn't crazy or unrealistic or not doable. This goal just requires commitment every day and I can reach it.
Easier said than done, I know, but I want this for myself. To finally show myself - Hey I can do this and I can stick to it and overcome temptation and weak will power and I can give this gift to myself. The gift of being fit and healthy! I want to feel good about the accomplishments but also about how I look and how I feel on the inside. If I can improve myself then all around improvements will happen on the inside and the outside. So why continue disliking how I look or how I feel (being tired or sluggish) when in reality its my weight that is an issue. If I can pinpoint the cause then I can change it. In 2017, that is the time to make a difference. Life is too short not to. We all live once! Let's make the best of it! Let's live instead of feeling we are living inside the blob. For those of you that have 99+ lbs to lose you know how I feel. Instead of feeling like we see ourselves, all I feel when I look in the mirror or see myself in pictures is "The Blob". Its not a right way to feel and it isn't how others see us but it is something I think a lot of us go through. It's time to change it! It's time to be proud of ourselves! Let's start!5 -
As I eat my 3rd cookie this morning and it is snowing hard I figured i better join up for our group for January. Lets just say Dec I have not eaten near enough protein the last few weeks but I have eaten a lot of cookies.4

Was excited when I ran across this group. I've been on MFP on and off for the last several years but this is the 1st time I've taken advantage of a Group/Community. I am looking forward to the accountability of making entries on a daily basis. If comradery or friendships develop along the way, bonus. Starting at @ 285 and truly need to get back below 200 for health reasons. I'm sure I have the same feelings/concerns as everyone else about my health conditions and overall appearance! Looking forward to it.3

@LilyGetsFitNow I know how you feel. I hid from cameras for years. There are hardly any pictures of me with my grandchildren.
I started my weight loss journey at the end of July 2016. I am not sure what day exactly. I turned 49 years old that month. I was miserable. I could barely move and was severely depressed. I weighed 330 pounds. Enough was enough and that most definitely was more than enough. I was sick and tired all the time (lots of health issues). I needed to make some major changes.
My main goal is to lose 165 lbs./half my body weight. By the time I turn 50.
I did not log any of my meals or exercise for the first 2.5 months. I am down to 264.4 lbs. and officially have less than 100 lbs. to lose (99.4 lbs. to be exact). I lost 65.6 lbs. in 5 months (that was my first mini goal).
My next goal is to weigh less than 250 lbs. by February. I believe I can do it. If I eat below 1,250 calories and burn 500 calories a day. This challenge will help me a lot.
Good luck to everyone here. I hope we all do very well in this monthly challenge.3 -
Hi All!
I have been on MFP since Oct 2015. Said goodbye to 25 in 2015 and around 50 in 2016. When I first started, I had a goal of 185. I hope to get there in April/May, then I will evaluate.
The past week I have not been the best on fitness or nutrition, so some lbs are trying to come back.
I will be using this challenge to keep myself accountable for my nutrition and fitness.
I have a fitness goal of doing a real 5k in the Spring. I have not signed up for anything yet as I need to wait unti we plan our spring break. I am doing a virtual 200 mile race to help drive me to jog a few times a week through the winter. I am super slow and have to walk a lot.
I am looking forward to saying goodbye to more lbs in 2017 and helping cheer others along the way!5 -
Hello! This will be my second month in the UAChallenges and while for about 80% of last month I DID AWESOME! Once Christmas hit it was like I skidded over a huge lake of ice and tripped, stumbled and fell all over myself for the last week of the month!
I did manage to lose about 3 pounds in December and am hopefull that at least I didn't GAIN any of that back! I'd like to lose 4-5 pounds in January so that'll be my goal and staying accountable will definitely help!
I do have a vacation planned for mid-month so if I use ANY pass days I think it will be during that week, otherwise I'm AIMING FOR the Winners Circle!
YOU GOT THIS MFPalz! Let's do it!5 -
Hi, it's December 30, so I had better get busy and introduce myself to you.
I'm @RangerRickL, but I will always refer to myself as "Rick". I'm a 66 year old grandpa, husband, dad, lawyer, horseman, hobby farmer, friendly guy with a very slow metabolism (and heart rate too). I gain weight very easily and lose weight with extreme difficulty. I'm not at someone else's idea of ideal weight, but I am comfortable at my current weight. Nonetheless, if I do not track my intake; keep active everyday; and count calories, I rapidly gain fat.
It is my pleasure to lead this group so that we can all work together to encourage each other. I will share transparently with you and I will encourage you to share transparently with your team mates on this UAC team.
Let's work together to make 2017 a great goal achieving year. One day at a time!

I'm ready! Here's to a great challenge and a successful 2017 for us all!3

Hi! I'm @lsabeIIe, 38 yo. (English isn't my first langage so I'm sorry for the mistakes)
At the beginning of 2016, I was in the best shape I never have been my whole life. Then, I got a medical bad news that required a big surgery. The surgery was last summer so I was recovering this fall. It's been really, really hard to lose so much of the hard work I put getting in shape. I haven't put weight back on, well just a few holidays pounds but it's no big deal. What I want is just to see if my body can get back to where it was or at least better than it is now. I don't mean in a aesthetic way, I mean in what it can accomplish.
This is my progress so far:
Now I just need to lose about 8 lbs but I'm in no rush. What I want to do now is to get back to healthy habits and exercise.
My plan, is 3 days strengh training and 3 days cardio, something like that. Eating under 1900 cals a day.
I'm might need some "pass" days, for the 2 and 3 since I have a big holiday get together but after that I'm planning some serious commitment!
Happy new year to everyone !!5 -

Hi everyone. This is my 3rd UAC. 3rd time lucky? I'm in the UK you so some of you might think I'm posting at odd times sometimes. I had a beautiful baby last year and have been trying to get healthier. I go back to work on Tuesday (just part-time luckily) so will need to find ways to adapt to that this month and fit in exercise and good food choices. Here's to a happy and healthy 2017 for us all. Good luck everyone!3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Welcome newcomers and veterans! This group has become my favorite part of MFP. The members thus far have been wonderful at sharing the ups and downs of their challenge, which has made my own obstacles easier to face and push through. If you commit 10 minutes of your evening to signing-in, posting, and contributing to the day's discussion, you are truly committing to stay mindful of your choices throughout the entire day. By the end of it, you either get to share your exciting accomplishments, or get the relief of admitting, acknowledging, and sorting through any slip-ups to a non-judgmental group of members that honestly want one another to succeed. I hope to see everyone signing-in, and even if you don't, I truly hope that you make every goal that you set for yourself!
My name is Kelsea, and this is my third UAC! I am 25 years old and heading to graduate school in be fall. In the meantime, I am working at a local hospital and focusing on improving different areas of my life, especially my health and self-perception.
One of my short term goals this month is to lose 7.6 lbs. Christmas got the best of me, and I fell terribly ill last week, so I didn't lose as much as I had hoped in December. However, I did have a very healthy holiday season overall, which I primarily credit this group for helping me accomplish by providing much inspiration and support. I may not make my weight goal this month, but I'm going to work very hard to get near it. My other goal is to MAKE THE WINNERS' CIRCLE! I haven't yet, but with the holidays behind us, I'm feeling like this is my month
Feel free to friend me!4 -
Happy new year all. I've been with MFP for 3 or 4 years now and I've found it invaluable. I was ill and injuredfor a lot of 2016 and things have slipped (not to the start but a way from where I was) so I am back here to refocus for 2017.I wish everyone success for 2017 - and for the first months challenge.4

Hi, everyone! This is not my first rodeo with MFP. I've successfully lost before, then gained back about 10 pounds. Thankfully, I came to my senses before the weight- gain got out of hand. I'm 11 pounds down now and want to lose 13 more. My husband is my rock and my 4 children are my motivation. I've struggled with health issues, but those propel me forward. I am determined to spite the disease that would rule my body. Running is my go-to exercise and I throw in a little weight-training in between. I'm looking forward to getting to know the group members! I'll be reading all the introductions and cheering for you throughout the month. Good luck to all!6

Hello!! I've been on myfitnesspal for a while & love the friends I've made & the support I get & receive. I banned myself from the scale for a whole ( still active) to focus more on getting fit & healthy versus losing weight. Joined this challenge to keep things interesting & fun. Have a blessed evening & Happy New Year6

Hello all! Happy New Year!
My name is Julie and I live near Dallas, TX. I am married and we have an 18 mo old son that keeps me on my toes. I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight but I am working towards getting lean and strong. My husband and I just got back into doing Crossfit. I work a desk job that keeps me seated a lot, I am trying to walk a few times a day to combat that.
This group has been amazing in helping me stay focused. Aside from when I went off the rails over the last holiday week due to stress, but even during that time I was more mindful. Since the beginning of November I have lost about 10 pounds. I started with the November UAC. Coincidence? I think not! Good luck to you all.
Feel free to add me as a friend!5 -

3. Brush my teeth before 8:30p.m. and that's it for the day!

Also:

2. learn a new instrument
3. spend more time to do charity work
4. starts a couch-to-5k program

HGW: 129.2 lbs (happy goal weight)

Hi again and welcome back old-timers and new members alike! I’m returning after a brief hiatus (okay, 3 months...shhh, don’t read that too loudly). Lol! I’m ready for a new year of accountably with my friends at UAC. Still fighting to make my good habits stick, as I know is totally possible. Thanks for all of the support through this challenge. All the best as we meet our goals together this month.0
