Has anyone run Disney before?

The marathon is a week from Sunday. I probably could have trained a little better - I got lazy with some of my shorter runs - but, overall, I'm feeling healthy, strong, and confident, with a touch of terror - LOL! I have no time goal other than to never see the dreaded pace flags.
Any tips for race day that are specific to Disney? Or in general?

If you actually plan on racing, stay in the middle. If you are there like most to just have an amazingly fun time, bring a camera. The characters will be everywhere and runners line up to get pictures taken. Tons of people rooting you on, just an overall super awesome time. I personally have not run it yet...planning on Dopey 2018, but a friend ran last year and that is what they told me.
In general for a marathon though, if you have ran one before, do what you usually do. If this is your first, just make sure you stay hydrated and follow whatever fueling technique you have used during training. Don't get new shoes unless you have time to break them in. Most importantly, just have fun and take in the moments, and don't forget to breathe. Have an awesome time and I am super jealous!1 -
I am running my first Disney marathon. I signed up on a whim in October. My family is Disney obsessed and I am running obsessed so it just kind of fit. I am planning on racing it, but not taking this race nearly as seriously as my major marathons. I am aiming for somewhere between 3:05-3:10, but won't be crushed if that doesn't happen. I have had a foot injury most of the year. I am told it won't get much worse and I can run as long as I can tolerate the pain. Some days are more painful than others. I am excited about seeing Disney this way, but the super early start freaks me out. I will be running the majority of my race in the dark which I don't love. I know when I finish my kids will want to go straight to the parks so I hope I am not hurting too bad!1

Enjoy the day. The course is too crowded to go for a PR. Unlike some big races, where it kind of opens up by Mile 6, with this race you will always be close to others. So smile, stop and take pictures with the Disney characters, talk to your fellow runners who are from all over the world, and relish the experience of running in a true destination race.
I recall waiting a long time to get to the start line. You line up 1-2 hours before in the chute, and move forward bit by bit until your group is up. So be careful on hydrating too much before you head out. You could end up in the woods along the chute area with a lot of your fellow overly-hydrated runners. At least it's pre-dawn, so there's a modicum of privacy.
I stayed at Disney for this race. I remember having to catch the shuttle from my hotel pretty early to get to the starting area.
It was cold (30s) and dark on race morning when I did it. I found a pair of discarded gloves on the course, for which I was very thankful. Here's wishing you have warmer weather!
Let me know how you do. I ran all 3 races that weekend, and would definitely go back.1 -
I'm hoping to do the Disney StarWars run in 2018, I just hope to get in. I have read that they sell out within minutes of opening 6 months prior.
My wife has been begging to go to Disney for a while so this is going to be a multi-purpose trip.1 -

Their site crashes each time. And yes, they sell out in minutes. It's worse than when the old iPhones used to be released. Been trying to get in since they started the Star Wars run. Almost joined an organization just to get an entry, but alas, I am too lazy to fundraise.

It was so cold and windy...temp at the start of the race was 36F with a stiff north wind, which was a headwind for a good portion of the course. But, I DID IT!!! Around what I was expecting for time...6:35.03. It was the most physically challenging thing I've ever done...and I've given birth twice - LOL!4
