New to the group - recently had microfracture on left knee

Good morning. I've been looking for a support group for knee issues, as the osteoarthritis group isn't very active. Last spring I was walking all the time and the arthritis was really doing well and manageable. Then this summer while hiking I experienced a great deal of pain and swelling.

I've just had microfracture surgery on my left knee in an attempt to postpone TKR (I'm currently 46 and my surgeon thinks I'm too young). This will be the second microfracture on this knee and it's kind of a last resort. He fixed a meniscus tear, cleaned up some bone spurs from the arthritis, and removed some inflamed synovial tissue along with microfracture in three areas.

I'm now on crutches and can't do any weight-bearing on my left leg for at least four more weeks. Crutches are no fun at any weight, but I'm a big guy (6'4" and over 300 pounds) and it's just no fun at all. But I'm determined to get back into shape and looking for others with similar issues to provide support for each other. I find I'm at my best - in terms of weight loss - when I log my food so I've started doing that again and now I'm trying to build momentum for the upcoming work after I'm off crutches. Friend me if you want.

So here's the direct question: Anybody with microfracture have suggestions for exercises while still on crutches and not weight-bearing? I'm doing the regular PT but always looking for alternatives.

Thanks.

hi there! I've never dealt with microfracture, but I did spend 18 months on crutches once with no weight bearing on my left leg so I can sympathize about how you must feel. I'd check for approval before trying anything new, but what about seated yoga and workouts? There are some really good ones online and on youtube.
