Geekying Out About My Cats.

Wanted to introduce my fur kids to the group, they are an important part of my life and who I am. The tux kitty if Neville (named from the Harry Potter character) The cow kitty is Logan (our own Wolverine) the gray tom cat in Gandalf (LOTR) and the gray striped one is Radar, although we did not name him he is named after he character from M.A.S.H. So even our fur children have some geekyness to them  <3269dgj2227nr.jpg

Our two cats, Louhi and Sukkamieli, send their greetings to Neville, Logan, Gandalf and Radar! Both of our cats are named after characters in Finnish folklore, Kalevala.

Louhi is a witch and matriarch of Pohjola (North) and Sukkamieli (translates to Sockmind) is a pagan goddess of love. Louhi is the one with more white on her face.

Nimueh looks almost exactly as my mom's cat Mauku :) Today we're having -11F (-24C) and the cats really seem to love our fireplace..

@dmhaag both of your kitties are beautiful but how did you get your black one to smile at you like that :p kudos to you for owning a black cat, the poor babies have such a bad stigma against them.

We've had Mithril since she was just 6 weeks old. She wasn't really ready to be weaned yet, but the mother had passed away, and she was eating baby cereal with kitten formula mixed in like a champ. She has a lot of quirky habits for a cat, like loving to be held on her back, needing to constantly touch someone, and looking pleased with herself when she is. I can only assume because she was weaned so early.

We have an inside dog, but we have two stray cats that showed up on our door. We started feeding them and put some totes with blankets and beds in them to keep them warm in the winter. So after three years of this. I believe we just have two cats now. I keep telling people they are just strays, but I am the one who feeds them every night. I don't argue to much, one of them is a mouser. He is always leaving his conquests on the front porch for me. I definitely appreciate his services.

So sorry about your tux kitty :disappointed: 20 wonderful years though, that's a nice long kitty life!

I just joined MFP (and here) recently. We have two kitties, but they aren't named after anything "geeky".

Galaxy and Magellan are simply named for their traits (Galaxy's fur patterns reminded me of a galaxy in transition and well, we found Magellan at the bottom of a trashcan having the time of his life within five minutes of him being in our home.. and if you're familiar with the story of the explorer of Magellan.. yeah):

I'm the biggest crazy cat lady ever! I have Merows and Frank and they are such mommas cats. Frank needs his own pillow right next to mine so he can sleep 1' from me all night while Merows lays on my feet all night!

It's gotten to the point where my mother calls my cats her "grandcats" and buys them Christmas presents because she knows she won't have any grand children ever! Hahah

Merows is the tabby and Frank is the tuxedo. They are siblings (same parents) but from two different litters a couple months apart!
