I finally caved and bought a bad weather car. I still kept my other car for summer because I can't get rid of my blue baby (350Z convertible). So I now have a summer car and a winter car. 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. I had a few last night to calm my nerves about spending that much money.

Congrats on the new car, Robin!
    Good to see you, Bridget.
Yesterday was a day off for me. 2 glasses of wine and no exercise. The spa was wonderful. I'll get some exercise in today and probably finish off the bottle

Thursday-0. Thursday's are tough for us...let's see if we can pull it off.

Just finished Breaking Bad last night. As much as I was ready for the show to end, I'm kind of sad it's over

Start Better Call Saul, Katie! It's not the same but there's enough references to characters from Breaking Bad that it'll hook you

Day 12 - no alcohol. Hasn't been too bad so far....doing a meatless week too, that hasn't been too bad either but I know my husband is struggling a bit with both...
So, it's been 8 months since my brother-in-law passed away unexpectedly. The family finally just got the official autopsy report back and it is a bit startling (and may be why giving up alcohol has been easier). My BIL had the gastric sleeve done about 2 1/2 years ago so his tolerance for alcohol was much less. His blood alcohol level at time of death was .27. The coroner said he basically passed out while in the hot tub and drowned. I know there has been times I've drank too much and not been able to remember anything but obviously I've been lucky. Going to be much more careful with my alcohol consumption in the future. Be careful lushes, it's powerful stuff...

Wow amcanzo....that is sad, and scary.... Hugs.

Well I'm still chugging along. I had 0's Sunday - Wednesday. But I caved and had 2 drinks last night. Langston came down with an almost 102 fever Wednesday afternoon. He seemed better that evening but I ended up keeping him home yesterday and took him to the doc fully expecting nothing, but he has strep. I'm glad we got it early as we've gotten some antibiotics into his system so he was able to go back to school today and will be well for his second birthday party tomorrow! Then I had a night hearing last night out of town, which was not excellent, and then had to drive through KY country interstates AKA super dark highway in the pouring down rain. Eric had the kids for 4 hours solo and was stressed, so we had a couple drinks. I was thinking about making a third drink, but opted for water so go me.

Tonight I think we'll get takeout, a bottle of wine and watch Stranger Things. We're 2 episodes in and pretty much hooked. We don't usually binge watch, but the only thing we're watching right now is Top Chef and the Leah Ramini show about Scientology which we're only partially committed to. It's interesting but slow.....

    Have a great weekend lushes!

Ann...how horrible! I can see how that would be a scary wake-up call for your family. Congrats on the no alcohol and meat. I'm doing neither but am moderating well.
Ashley I loved Stranger Things! Which is unusual for me because I don't like that sort of genre usually. The kids steal the show, for sure. I'm watching Leah Remini's show and Top Chef as well. Goliath is good as if you have Amazon and can tolerate Billy Bob Thorton.
It's been crazy raining here but I still managed to get out and exercise yesterday. I think we'll get a break for a few days and we need it. Playing golf tomorrow which is usually followed by 19th hole drinking. I'm going to try to limit myself to 2.
    Happy weekend everyone! :drinker:

Congrats on the Mauiversary Kate! Ann I really hear ya on the "it's powerful stuff" I have been moderating. I picked up my new car on Saturday. It is pretty cool. It will take a while to get used to. And it was supposed to have Navigation but it doesn't so they are figuring out what they are going to do. Either add it to this car or get me a new one that has it. I will keep you posted. Auto Start on a cold morning is pretty damn cool!

Ann- I am very sorry for you loss. Thanks for sharing with us, as it is a reminder of just how fragile life is!

Robin, we got a new car a few months ago. It has a bunch of safety features that we appreciate having!

FINALLY getting back to working out and recording what I eat. Not getting any zeros, but am trying to keep it within my calorie goals.

Kate- I can't believe its already been a year in Hawaii for you guys!

Well I blew it over the weekend.... Some friends ended up inviting us over for sushi Friday. Their kids are the same ages as ours, used to go to our day care, so it's always fun to hang out with them. I had a martini filled to the brim within 10 minutes of being at their house.... We stayed till 11. I was a little rough Saturday, but got all the birthday party prepping done and then proceeded to drink all day and stay up till 2am and drank hardly any water. Which was my downfall. I was mostly useless Sunday until I had to get up and prepare a dish for my MIL's birthday party and drive the kids out there. I started to feel better, but man....I haven't been that bad in a while. I drank nothing Sunday despite the fact I didn't have to work yesterday. I almost caved and poured some wine last night because Eric went for a drink with some co-workers/consultants after a meeting, but I stayed strong. No drinks till Friday this week. I'm going out with my friends for our belated Christmas dinner. I really want to try to keep it in check..... We usually drink a good amount at dinner, look at art after and drink, then hang at my house after and of course drink more..... I really really hate being hungover....

Been there Ashley. It's my new resolution...no hangovers. I'm just too old for them now and I don't even enjoy drinking that much anymore.
I do love my red wine though, especially in cold weather. 2 glasses last night. It's a win, Robin ;)

Well, I made 17 days with zero alcohol and although I had alcohol last night, I'm not sure how much 3 sips of my husband's wine really counts. It did break my streak but more importantly I proved to myself that I could go that long without ANY alcohol. :)
I too like the no-hangover resolution...I'm getting to old to behave that way! :disappointed::open_mouth:

    17 days is awesome! and I wouldn't count the 3 sips :D
Doing ok here. Exercising and eating well. Red wine at night. Spent the day today filling sandbags for all the rain we're supposed to get down here. We're just not built for a lot of rain at once. I'm also supposed to do the women's march on Saturday but I'm not dedicated enough to do it in the rain. I'm a great peaceful protester, as long as I'm dry. B)
We'll see what these storms bring for us. Often they fizzle out by the time they get to San Diego.

    Sun - 0
    Mon - 0
    Tues - 0
Wed - big glass of red and 2 ciders

I have another sick kid. I forgot happy hour is tonight for work, so I opted to have my happy hour last night since I'm working from home today. We can't catch a break in this house!

0 tonight and no hangover Saturday is my goal! I think I need a strategy like after 4 drinks, I have to have a water/non alcoholic beverage between in each drink. It'll keep me hydrated and slow me down!

Ashley I need to do the same....we have a pot luck dinner Saturday which will "require" at least 1 to 1 1/2 bottles of wine, but I need to shut it down when we get home because we have fun plans for Sunday (hiking and snorkeling) and I do not want to feel like poo!!!!

That's why I stick to wine. Especially red...I sip it. Cocktails just go down too fast and easy.
I'm sore today from shoveling all that sand! The rain has started...so far so good. Yoga and laundry today. The rain makes me sleepy

I'm the opposite Sydney. After about a glass or two of wine, I pretty much pound it, top off, etc. and have no idea how much I have! The act of making cocktails makes me realize better. But I love wine.

I had 3 drinks last night. Home again with a sick kid. My week has just been off.... But I've been keeping up with workouts. Besides NYD, I've only missed 2 days with no activity this year. Have a great weekend all!

Wednesday - we went to a Red Wings hockey game and I had one beer with dinner. Red Wings won an extremely exciting game that I was happy to be sober for and not needing to run to the bathroom :#:#
    Thursday - 0
Friday - 2 glasses of red wine
Saturday - I'm anticipating a zero...going out with my girlfriends tonight...they are not drinkers so that should make it easy...not sure why they are my friends! Ha! just kidding... :p

Have had a pretty much dry January up til now. Not supposed to drink on the pain meds I'm on ( slight spanner in the works with issues with my neck and nerves down left arm) Anyway a glass of wine has totally hit the spot tonight. Not sure if it's the abstinence lately or the combined effect with meds but it's made me feel pleasantly squiffy :-). Happy weekend
