HI Ladies! I will be starting SL 5x5 tonight after work. My husband is going to show me how to do it. I can't figure out how many calories to eat along with protein. I am 50 years old and 5'2". I weight174 and have lost 5 lbs the last 5 weeks eating 1300 calories per day while doing cardio 2-3 days per week and nautilus machines 3 days per week at Planet Fitness. I currently eat 70-90 grams of protein per day. I have a desk job and never leave my desk except for lunch break. Any suggestions? And is SL considered light activity, medium activity or major activity? Thanks!!

I don't have advice, but I just started this program as well. I'm 5'2 and weigh about 142 now. I'm still trying to lose weight but also "tone" at the same time. My goal is 1200 a day, and I got to 1350 on lifting days.

One thing to keep in mone if you work out at PF is that they don't allow deadlifts there so you'll need to make some adjustments there.

for purposes of calorie counting . . . basically, lifting is great but don't count on it too much for calorie purposes. it's definitely exercise, but it's really not easy to get an accurate picture of what you're burning. i logged my cardio [when i was logging, which was a while back], but i ignored the lifting.

great call starting now though. you've already got good muscle and strength just from your body being used to its own weight.
