I just love the Saguaro cactus. They only grow in the Sonoran Desert of the South West. This one was near the summit of North Mountain and it's probably more than 160 years old4 -
I love your desert pictures, @RangerRickL . I'm going to add a winter desert hiking vacation to my list of desirous vacations!
Years ago one of our WW comrades was taking a long all-you-can-eat cruise. She was trying to lose a few pounds so she could gain them back on the cruise while sitting in the sun and catching the rays, and drinking umbrella drinks. She had a plan and was working it. That got me thinking.
Everybody has their own idea of vacation. I find that each pound of weight loss is hard won and it is mentally defeating when I gain a few pounds. I prefer vacations that challenge me physically and/or mentally. Luckily, my hubby agrees. It gives us an incentive to stay in shape throughout the year.
Given all that, I was still pretty anxious when I stepped on the scale this morning. I'd skied hard for 5 or more hours a day for six days but I'd indulged my diet to accommodate the calorie burn, and I was estimating the tracking. I was afraid to see the results?!?
Net effect: Minus one pound!!! Yea!
Back to strength training tomorrow so I'll be ready for the next adventure...3 -

Pass Day #2, DOMS so bad I can barely walk. Exercise was weak.

Back in Illinois. I live about 50 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. It's not pretty here in February and for the next 8 weeks, I'll be doing boring but necessary inside exercise. I watch old cowboy shows while walk/running on the treadmill.
