@2020pinktogo You should try free crochet. You just start and see what appears. No pattern to follow so no stress involved. And your work wasn't loose, just lacy lol!
@fitphoenix Writing is so cathartic. My group is in recess until 16 May. I do miss it. But I write most days anyway.
@danelutza19 Plans are made to be broken in those circumstances. Fresh air and exercise is the best excuse! But it does stimulate the appetite somewhat lol!
@catvlmack Starting simple is a good idea with knitting/crochet. My Nana taught me when I was very young. It's been a very useful skill over the years.
@Skipper111 Family time is so important. And it's difficult to resist all those family favourites. My daughter and grandson bake for us coming to visit on Sundays, and he is always keen for us to sample his efforts.
@GrandmaJackie You did better than I did over Easter, Jackie. And then I had my birthday as well. But it is shifting. Love Dr Who. Are you getting the new series where you are?
@MonicaA2013 It's good to see that you are back on the ball. Great goals as always.
@debbieinca Great preparation for the week. Go healthy food ready to go!!! You've got this!!!

Our family visit went well, too well, as GS#2 had baked raspberry muffins for us. Fortunately, I had left some calories free in anticipation, as he often bakes for us coming on Sundays.

This afternoon I take my Monday Painters Group in a local community centre. 2 hours of artistic endeavours. This evening I am going to our local Library Poetry Group. Our theme is Music. Each member submits a poem for discussion. I sent in a poem last week. Then this morning I wrote this one.

In the darkest night
where demons rule my mind
and sense and reason desolation stole

I am in need of music
to soothe the savage beasts
which prowl the deep dark recess of my soul

I long to feel the touch
of lilting harp and violin
caress my bleeding heart and make it whole

@TerriRichardson112 well done on losing another pound! You're doing so well. I wish I had someone who would bake me cakes every Sunday :D
@debbieinca those mason jar salads sound lovely! What do you put in them? Yesterday, it was the first time that I took my green salad from my very own garden. This is the first spring that I'm trying to grow my own veggies. I love watching them grow, I almost don't want to take them out of their little raised garden bed :)

Last time I checked in it was on day 4. Since then it's been a crazy weekend, I spent it with friends in the capital. On Friday I went shopping (lots of walking!), then to a workshop on how to make raised garden beds (there was wine...) and then to a party (drank spirits...). On Saturday I did some more shopping and then went to a wine festival and had pizza for dinner. Sunday we went on a long walk picking wild asparagus, but ate out for dinner again...

Of course all my weekend choices reflected on the scale this morning. Even though I was on my feet a lot, it went up. My water intake was a disgrace and the alcohol and eating out part was not helping. But it was fun so no regrets :)

Today, I plan to drink loads of water, eat healthy homecooked meals, go for a walk or do yoga.

@lalajka A gardening workshop which involves wine sounds like some sort of dream!

You should most definitely never regret quality time with friends and family, despite what the scale may reflect. The memories are the most important.

I am having a great morning so far, currently enjoying a Peppermint tea to try and help make my body feel a little better after a sinful weekend!

Will hopefully get out for a run later as it is glorious sunshine here. After watching all of the amazing people running London Marathon yesterday, I am very spurred on!

    Goals for today:
    Drink 8 glasses of water
    Log everything
    Stay under calorie goal
    Go for a run
    Sort outfit for interview

    Happy Monday everyone!

@TerriRichardson112 good idea on saving up calories, I do the same, i find it helps me enjoy the splurge rather than worry about it!
@lalajka your life sounds amazing, sign me up!
@skipper111 aim big! The marathon is so inspiring, it's like magic what those people achieve. It's chucking it down here, but I've been promised a walk at Blackpool, and I love that place so much, a bit of rain won't stop me!

Off to Blackpool today, my favourite place! Then gymnastics this evening, mainly conditioning, which I always do alongside the kids, great free workout!
Have a fab day all x

@2020pinktogo - great goals for today!!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was so busy and totally forgot. I also did not log food over the weekend. I didn't eat too bad at all, so I'm not going to beat myself up. I just need to get into the practice of always logging no matter what.

    So this week's goals are:
    • Logging!
    • Water, water, water
    • 10,000 + steps per day
    • Yoga (at least 6 times this week)
    • Net carbs 40 or under

Here's to a new week of healthfulness!!

@carlsoda When I first started using MFP, I was great at logging. Then I got a little lax on the weekends. I usually end up going back in on Monday's and log. Lately, I have had problems focusing, so started back to logging weekends too. You can do this, and I love the goals for the day.

Sounds like everyone had great weekends. My weekend was weird. After finding out my uncle died, I went into a funk. I suffer from depression, but hadn't had any episodes, basically since I started losing weight. I added in a ton of exercise. Friday, went to the ball game, and managed to stay under calories. I had spare from Thursday, then only ate a small lunch, expecting that we were going to go to our favorite place to eat before the game. Didn't make it there, so just ate at the ball park. It was cold, and rainy. I had a lot of fun though, and we won.

Saturday was a lousy day for me. The depression hit me like a ton of bricks. I could barely get out of bed. Took the kids to skate lessons, then stayed for the partial skate session. Came home and went to bed. Slept until almost 5, then went to a family thing. (I so didn't want to go, but tickets were bought ahead of time.) Came home and went to bed. Made none of my goals, but the 20 minutes of cardio, and under calories.

Sunday was a rough start, but managed to get out of bed, took a short drive and cried in the school parking lot for about 20 minutes. Back home, the BF was mowing the lawn, kids were cleaning up the back yard. So I couldn't sit on my butt. I cleaned my bedroom, the upstairs bathroom, the living room, and then cleaned out the fridge. Took everything out, and scrubbed everything. It looked so beautiful when I was done. :) I was still feeling kind of blah, but not as bad. I was exhausted, but the BF dragged me roller skating. (We do this almost every Sunday as a family activity.) I had a good time skating, and started feeling a little better.

Today, I feel great. My motivation is back. Managed to lose a little weight over the week, and the depression seems to be lifting. (This would be one of the quickest episodes I have ever had.) It is also nice knowing I can come here and check in, and see how all my MFP friends are doing.

    Today's Goals:
Under Calories (being in the green.)
    80 ounces of water
*20,000 steps. (this is a stretch goal, I will be happy with 15K.)
    Lunch walk
    After school walk
    Cheerleader kicks (challenge)
    Hogwarts poses (challenge.)
    *Gym Time
    Get work stuff done.

    Have a great Monday Flowers!

@jdelaroy glad to hear you have your motivation back and to lose!

I have been MIA this past week and will likely be sporadic for the next week or so, but I am still here and checking in. We got hit with another foot of snow on the weekend, it is doing lots of demotivating and frustration. Lots going on at the moment and the weather is not helping. However, this too will pass and I will be back in the game strong.

    Have a great week everyone!

@jdelaroy Depression is a tough thing, but it sounds like you're on your way back to feeling better. I'm glad your motivation is back, and hey, you lost weight over the weekend. Hang in there! :)
@carlsoda I didn't do well with logging this weekend either. Here's to a new day!! We can do it!
@2020pinktogo I didn't hit my water goals either this weekend. I'm already up 2 glasses today. I like your goal of thinking positive! That's a great way to start off a Monday!
@catvlmack That's awesome you do gymnastics alongside your kids! What a great role model!
@Skipper111 Glad you're off to a great morning. Peppermint tea sounds yummy! Enjoy your run in the sunshine!
@lalajka Sounds like you had a fun-filled weekend with friends and family, which is important. Looks like you have your goals set for today and ready to start fresh!
@TerriRichardson112 You are talented! That's sweet the kiddos like to bake for you. Awesome that you planned for that so that you could enjoy it! Way to go on another pound down!! Which scale did you go with?

Well I'm starting fresh again this morning. I already have some water in, and have logged what I've eaten so far today. I had a busy weekend with friends, and didn't log my food. :/ We usually meet with friends over the weekend for "happy hour" in which we enjoy food, drinks, and play cards. I need to figure out how to plan better for this, because it is a downfall for me! This weekend I also had bunko, which I did have margaritas, which is a bad choice, I know! They just looked so dang good! The problem with a weekend like this, it undoes all the good from the week and has me starting over. I need to plan and figure out how to make this work so that I continue to see the scale go down! Enough of that!

    Goal for today
At least 8 glasses of water
Log EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth!
Plan out meals for the week
Go on a walk, it is beautiful out!

    Have an awesome Monday everyone!!

@kimmysue100 If you know ahead of time you are going to do a friends night, with eating and drinking there a couple of things you can do to help. Some tips I have:

Save 100 calories each day. (100 less than what they give you, unless you are at the 1200 mark.) This will give you a couple of more calories to enjoy that day.
Eat at maintenance calories for the day instead. Or do this and any extra calories you saved.
to figure out what your maintenance calories are. multiply 250 by how many half pounds you are set on losing.
If you are drinking mixed alcohol beverages, try a diet pop, or diet mixer.
    Alternate between liquor and water.
    Be the Designated Driver
    Pre-plan your munchies/snacks.
Add in an extra long workout that morning.

    Good morning flowers!!!

@jdelaroy you're just awesome!!! Human nature is amazing!!! I know you're going through some challenging times and yet you're here supporting us and giving advice!

@TerriRichardson112 thank you for sharing your poetry with us! Amazing start to the thread and congratulations on your loss.

Yesterday was pretty fun but not as good as our last roller skating session. I felt less coordinated and took about half an hour to start practicing my little tricks. All goals achieved.

I was looking forward to starting this week fresh but shark week has me feeling like I never woke up. I'm in 2 coffee cups deep already but still no energy :(
It's a beautiful day here, not too cold and I will do my best to just make this day count regardless of my gloomy mood. The plan is to hit the park with my daughter, eat within calories/macros, train, chin-ups, water and good sleep.

    Let's have a fabulous Monday!!!

    Happy Monday everyone!

@danelutza19 I am right there with you with shark week. Really just not feeling it today. Thankfully it is beautiful here too, so I'm doing my best not to be a complete slug.

The last I posted was Friday, yikes - the weekends go by so quickly! I did everything I set out to do Friday, EXCEPT make good choices. The MOST important and main goal that helps me get where I want to be! I mowed our entire lawn in an hours time, had 2 glasses of wine, ONLY and then proceeded to eat the rest of the evening. Grrrr

    Day 5 Goals were:

    1. Write my food down on paper, eat accordingly
    2. Drink 6-8 glasses of water
    3. Take my vitamins (done)
    4. Get in 30 minutes of exercise and 10-12,000 steps
    5. Journal
    6. Read at least one chapter (done)
    7. One thing off my to do list (done) (Called my insurance agent to find out how much it would be to add my daughter to my insurance - an increase of about $1000 per year!! YIKES!!)
    8. Make good choices tonight! No snacking after dinner, no more than 10 oz. wine.

Saturday was freezing, the kids had soccer, then we all came home and crawled into bed and lazed around. I did manage to get in 30 minutes of exercise, and despite beginning the day perfectly, I wound up grazing and over eating at the end of the day. <sigh>

Sunday started with us running up North to visit the closest Disney Store. Well, it was a total bust as it was basically filled with stuffed animals and T-Shirts and nothing that I was looking for! We wound up eating at the food court (yuck), but instead of steak sandwiches & fries covered with orange cheese sauce, I did manage to chose a chicken wrap with the dressing on the side. We came home and it turned nicer, so we washed all the cars. My back was aching afterwards, then I realized why. My fashionably 8 day late "friend" FINALLY decided to show up, which is probably why I felt like I needed to overeat Friday, Saturday AND Sunday night - grrr!

But I'm back at it today, even though the better half stayed home, I'm trying to stay busy and stay OUT of the kitchen.

    Day 8 Goals:

    1. Log (write) my food and eat accordingly.
    2. Drink 6-8 glasses of water
    3. Take my vitamins (done)
    4. Get in 30 minutes of exercise and 10,000-12,000 steps
    5. Journal
    6. Read at least 1 chapter
    7. Work on our vacation info
    8. Home Depot
    9. Eat a decent, balanced, planned dinner and then STOP EATING!

Wish me luck, with the way I feel, I'm gonna really have to focus on that #9.

    DAY 8:

Hello Everyone! I hope you have all started off your week strong. I am happy to say that I am finally back on my normal routine. My kids are back to school after having been off for their Easter break. I am sorry I didn't check in yesterday but I spent my entire Sunday Spring Cleaning my kids bedrooms. MAN I was so tired and sore afterwards that I had to crawl into bed and I was even hurting as I slept. I am still sore today but I still hit the gym bright an early this morning and it got me ready for the rest of the day. I am ready to crush some goals this week!

@RejsGirl and @kimmysue100 -I am right there with you. I personally struggle so much with my intake on weekends. Its when we tend to eat out. We will try again next weekend.

danelutza19 - I have never in my life roller skated because I always felt too fat and was afraid to fall. Maybe one day. Good luck with your goals and Happy Monday!

    MY GOALS:

    - COMPLETE 4 GYM SESSIONS THIS WEEK
    1/4 GYM SESSIONS COMPLETED
    - DRINK ATLEAST 3 LITERS OF WATER 7/7 DAYS
    1/7 DAYS COMPLETED
    - NO CARBS FOR DINNER 5/7 DAYS
    0/5 DAYS COMPLETED
    - EAT VEGGIES AT EVERY MEAL 5/7 DAYS
    0/7 DAYS COMPLETED
    - LOG EVERYTHING IN MY DIARY 7/7 DAYS (THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY)

@mari_moulin, sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday! Sounds like you started out the week strong even though you were sore, which is awesome! (And I've actually found that a workout can sometimes make me feel better if I've got that achy muscle feeling going on.)

The structure of the work week definitely helps me stay on track food-wise. I've been trying to make sure that I incorporate less nutritionally dense yummy foods into the weekend as a plan so that it's less likely I'll feel deprived and eat everything in sight. (This weekend, I had a little ice cream sandwich that I made from two cinnamon wafer cookies and 1/4c ice cream. It was a great sweet treat and fewer calories than I'd get from most storebought ones.) So far, it's mostly worked!

@jdelaroy, I hope this week just keeps getting better and better for you. Good for you for participating in events and doing your best to make stuff happen whether you felt like it or not.

@TerriRichardson112, thanks for sharing your poetry with us! It was very evocative. I admire poets and poetry, but I am definitely a prose writer!

@MonicaA2013 Wow! You said it all Monica. I endorse every word! This is such a supportive group and great motivation. Well done on the goals. The Shred and Aftershock are a bit too hardcore for me, but good on ya for effort.
@GrandmaJackie I'm working on the cleaning myself this week. Well done on the goals. And I love the variety of yoga links you have been posting on the newsfeed. I have tried a few of them and added some to my YouTube lists.
@Skipper111 A supportive and motivational group like this can do wonders for your morale. The positive energy is a real buzz.

Monday Painters Group went well. The members painted some wonderful landscapes.
Library Poetry Group was lively. The variety of work on a theme never ceases to amaze me.

Today is a glorious but crisp April morning, with lots of promise. This morning I am going to my Craft Group, then after lunch I am getting my hair cut and blow dried for my Amsterdam trip on Friday. 5 days as a Culture Vulture with my Art History pals. This is life after work! And it's good!

My new scale arrived yesterday, (1byOne Digital Body Analysis Scale from Amazon) but I hadn't bought the batteries as I wasn't expecting it until today. I'm excited to see how it works this afternoon.
