My monthly goal of 294 represents my leaving the Obese III BMI category, which is my first major weight loss milestone. Best of luck to us all!

    SW: 387.2
    CW: 170.6
    GW: 164
    LTGW: Between 150-160.

    Weigh ins: Wednesdays
4/30/17 = 170.6 (Using this as my start point since it was my last April weight)

    5/10/17=
    5/17/17=
    5/24/17=
    5/31/17=

My big goals for the month are (1) 166, which will officially make me just "overweight" on the BMI scale. I've been "obese" to varying degrees, mostly super-morbidly (ClassIII), my entire life. (2) Spa Girl Triathlon on 5/13/17- My main goal is to finish. Timing wise, my goal is 2 hours. That goal is somewhat realistic but doesn't account for any leeway so here's hoping I can do it.

Have a GREAT month everyone! You can do it!

I weighed 270.6 on April 29 which was two days ago. I think the weight gain is due to water weight from some especially salty food I ate Sunday. I am starting to get the hang of counting calories and understanding MFP.

I am confused about one thing. I'm not sure if I should wear my fitbit while I do the elliptical AND log the elliptical or if I shouldn't wear it and just log the elliptical. I noticed over the weekend when I added the elliptical workout while I wasn't wear my fitbit, it erased the calories I earned from a thirty min walk that I had done earlier in the day. So I am confused about that.

As I mentioned in my last post for last month's challenge, this is probably where I should have started this month. This was my weight on the morning of the 30th, but I ended up working all night so my May 1st weigh-in was artificially inflated. I adjusted my goal weight for the month from 294 down to 291 accordingly. Anyway...

    - Mile-per-day run streak is at 123 days, with 270 mi/434 km logged for the year. With that said, I only ran 12.7 miles over the past week, and I usually average 20 or so.
    - CICO good.
    - Sleep was horrible last week, averaging around 3 1/2 per night. This is my number one problem area. Even on normal weeks, getting at least 7 is a rare thing.
    - Didn't lift at all last week; my energy level was so low that it was all I could do to get the runs in.

Hopefully, this next week goes better. My youngest son turns 5 on Friday, so I'll have to account for weekend revelry during the week. Keep it moving, y'all!

It's official, I am OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought 166 was the magic # but when I plugged it in on a free BMI calculator I made the shift to overweight! I have been obese since at least the 6th grade (maybe earlier, not sure), and super morbidly obese for at least 20 years. The great news is that this means you CAN change your body in a major way, even in your 40s!

Triathlon & Birthday in 3 days. Unfortunately my Father in Law's funeral is in 2 days. It has been a rough and stressful week. I haven't been exercising because family priorities take, well, priority, but I was exercising up a storm until Monday. I honestly wanted to blow off the triathlon and my birthday but the family has insisted I do it so I'm following their wishes. I am going to head off to swim for some self-care at my husband's insistence. I don't want to do this tri without doing any activity this week, so...

Have a great week everyone. I think you are all great, you are winners, and you CAN do it.

Genesis and Malia - Here's to happy, healthy babies!

Brooke - Congratulations on your many successes this week, and also my condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father-in-law. Best of luck in your triathlon.

Jenny Marie - Way to get back in the game!

    Let's work!

    - Mile-per-day run streak is at 130 days, with 284 mi/457 km logged for the year. 14 miles last week; better than the week prior, but still not up to my average 20 or so.
    - CICO was NOT good. Lost my mind around the stress-eating and not tracking.
    - Slept around 5 hours per night last week; again, better than the week prior, but still not good. This is my number one problem area.
    - No lifting for a second week in a row. Until the sleep thing is worked out, that is probably for the best. Heavy squats do not go well with exhaustion.

I got waaaaaaay off course this past week: food, sleep, job stress, all out of whack. In fact, this weigh-in might have been better, but I only got 2 hours of sleep last night due to work. I think the only good thing fitness-wise was keeping up my mile-per-day streak. Hopefully, this next week goes better. I've got a real uphill battle for the rest of the month if I'm going to make this goal. I am claiming sub-300 for good this month in Jesus' name.

    Keep it moving, winners!

As I explained at the end of April challenge, I'm not formally doing the challenge this month as I'm spending 2 weeks in Italy and I'm saying, what will be will be. I need the holiday and plan to thoroughly enjoy it.

But I wanted to drop by and share a victory and important milestone, if I may.

Weighed in this morning, and my weight loss for the month is now at 5lb. Very proud of that in itself. But the really big deal is this:

I am now 23st 13lb (335lb). The lowest I've been since hitting my max weight last Feb (26st/364lb). The last time I was below 24st was about 3 years ago, and even then it was only for a couple of weeks before it went back up again, and hasn't returned since. The last time I was solidly at this weight was about 5 years ago. Not long after that I had to buy a new scale because my old one maxed out at 24st!

Also, this brings my total weight loss to 29lb. That is hugely significant to me. Whenever I have previously tried to lose weight, I have, every time, managed 26-28lb and never an ounce more......then plateaued, then started regaining. So this means I have broken through that barrier. That is a HUGE psychological boost.

I'm disappearing on holiday tonight, for 2 weeks of pasta and wine in Italy. So I may have to cross this hurdle again when I get back :D Or not - I went to Italy this time last year and lost 4lb due to all the walking (20k+ steps every day!) I'm not going to get hung up on it. I desperately need this holiday, and if I do gain I know that I am in control enough to be able to lose it when I get home.

I also made a commitment to myself this week that, no matter what, I will never see 25st (350lb) again. Never - come what may. I'm looking forward to being secure enough to say the same about 24st.

Well done to everyone here for carrying on the fight. Keep battling through the struggles, it WILL get easier and don't lose sight of why you are doing this, it WILL be worth the effort!

I haven't been able to count me calories as well this past week. My grandma has been in the hospital since Thursday so it's been hard to keep track to the food i eat there. But I am excited to say my pants and bra are fitting a bit bigger. My jeans I can just slide down without unbuttoning and my bra is on the tightest notch. :D Yay!!!

If we are friends and you have heard this before, I apologize in advance. My post contains some previously unreleased race stats so feel free to skip or read on:

I didn't lose anything this week, but then again I didn't gain either. My father in law passed very suddenly on the 10th and it was very stressful. My husband was the one who found him and I picked up all of the slack on any parenting and household duties I could, getting up early to take Little Bit to daycare so her routine stayed as normal as possible, picking her up, and helping out any way I could, and making sure my husband and Big Girl got all the sleep they could. My exercise this week (until the tri) was minimal, my nutrition was not on point at ALL, and I think the stress and lack of sleep come in to play as well, so not gaining is a win in my book.

So my triathlon was on my birthday Saturday. My goals were (1) to finish, (2) not in last place, and (3) under 2 hours. I had done this tri 3 years ago and about 45 lbs heavier but I trained MUCH better back then, with no family obligations (and no family actually, my husband and I were newly exclusively dating). I was going on 3 to 4 hours sleep a night, tops, and was considering cancelling but the family insisted I do it in Pop's honor. My knee was acting up from a practice ride I did the previous Sunday right before he died, but I did it. The night before I got maybe 3 hours sleep in the hotel.

    (1) I finished. (2) 95/115 in age group overall, 68/115 on the swim, 70/115 on the bike, and my walk was dismal but I was not even last place in my age group. The bike ride was 10 miles, which was 2 loops of 5 miles and on the very beginning of the second loop my knee was popping out and seriously painful, and stayed that way for the "run," but I kept going. I pushed Little Bit in the stroller for the run and I finished 6 seconds better than the previous tri. Overall rank was 573/669. Previous rank was 675/741, so my rank improved as well. All in all, I will take it as a win. I met my goals and will do better next year. (3) My time was 1:45:something, and 6 seconds better than the previous time. I'd like to do more tris in the future, although right now I am just offering to do the swim leg for anyone who wants.

Congrats on the clothing victory Jenny Marie, and your huge milestone Jen. Great job keeping the run streak up Mike (and thank you for the kind words), and Malia and Genesis I can't wait to see your Little Ones! Stay healthy! Keep up the hard work everyone, it WILL pay off!
