Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Congratulations to everyone in the winners circle super well done4 -
So the 30 lengths of the pool I was going to swim today...my daughter had a temperature and I've had to keep her home from nursery. All the best laid plans eh.4

@RangerRickL I'm still in the circle, I used my 2nd pass day on the 27th5

So true @am_change My husband has an infection on his spine . It took some major arguments to get him to a Dr. Dr is not sure what he has or what is going on but I now have more to take care of. I will come home on lunch to clean it out again so after work I can go for a walk.
Not to worry he is deciding when I should reseal the driveway. I swear he will be the death of me.3 -
Great!!
Both @Slimpossible007 and @trixsey1 are in the Winner's Circle.
Anyone else??
This is great news!!5 -
July 31
Exercised?: Yes. Walked 6.9 Km in 58 mins (hills).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Busy day today, still managed to get a good walk in.
End of month, time to re-assess daily limits. Was on 6276kj per day (1500 kcal). As I am now 2kg below my initial goal weight (est. 12% body fat), time to transition to maintenance. MFP calculates my maintenance at 8201kj per day (1960 kcal). That's a full extra meal (and I have days where I struggle to get to 1500 kcal).
Plan is to increase daily limit for first week by 418kj (100 kcal). The following week daily limit increase of another 418kj (100 kcal) and so on until weight loss stops. I am wary that a sudden increase will bounce the weight dramatically (which is the last thing I want after working so hard).
I need to keep up the daily exercise. That is my ticket to continued health; both mentally and physically. Most days I look forward walking or bodyweight strength maintenance (feels good doing the work, also feels good afterwards).
I am expecting it will take time to mentally switch gear from losing to maintaining.
Tired now, so not going to write too much tonight. Will read people progress tomorrow (and comment).
Looks like a good size winners circle this month. It's a real achievement. In my opinion, this is THE hardest challenge on MFP. Many drop out or find it too hard.
Congratulations too to all those who stuck with it to the end of the month. Those who continue are also winners in opinion.
Look forward to seeing you all next month (tomorrow ).

@craigo3154, Congratulations on transitioning to maintenance!
@winners circle, great work everyone!
@everyone, congrats to you too! Checking in and being accountable is a valuable habit.7 -
Is anyone changing their calorie goals for the next challenge?
I'm having a hard time deciding how to set mine. Last month, I did 1460 cal., started to lose too fast, felt weak, so I started eating 1/2 my exercise calories. Then I put some of the weight back on. In the end, only lost 1.5 lbs. I've got another 2-3 pounds to goal. I'm a weight lifter, so slow loss is fine. But I'm not sure how to set a good calorie goal for a whole month. It's hard to find that balance between losing weight and having the strength for heavy lifting.3 -
July 31st
Exercised?: Yes
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Not 100% yet, but I'm getting better. Managed 30mins of beginner strength training this morning, followed by a 60min walk with the dogs.
Also had to go into town, 38mins, had dinner, then went in the garden for over a hour, including mowing and trimming back the privet. This rain/sun combination we've been having here is making it grow like mad.
Other chores, general housework/cleaning as usual ( I don't bother logging these in, as to me it's daily chores, not exercise, lol).
Weighed myself today, as it's the last day of the month - that 2lb gain that I mentioned has disappeared along with an extra pound, so that's a 7lb loss for me this month.
I have a feeling this might have been more, but I was burning over 1000 calories some days and only eating 1200 calories back at the beginning of the month and as Craig pointed out, this was probably throwing my metabolism out of whack. Thankfully he stepped in at the right time before I did any permanent damage - live and learn...
Also thinking about getting a bike, so next months activities will hopefully include bike riding too - I haven't rode a bike in 20 years! Will keep you posted on how this goes!
The MFP is allowing me 1320 calories at a rate of 1.5lb loss, so I'm gonna try and stick with this throughout August and dip into those exercise calories if I've done a good burn that day without feeling guilty or mad at myself for doing so - I've come to realize I'll need the extra calories depending on my activities for that day.
I haven't been able to jog for days now (I love jogging!), so I'm hoping to be able to get back into it this week or perhaps next week, now I'm beginning to pick up - I'll take it in moderation until I'm fully recovered.
Still 23.8 pounds to lose to get to my healthy, ideal weight for my age and size, so I'm hoping to have completed this goal before my birthday in December (fingers-crossed there's no set backs). Well, a gal can hope, lol.
@am_change - hope your little one is okay and her fever breaks soon.
@craigo3154 - Good luck with your plans and goals for next month.
@2020pinktogo - All the best to your husband, I hope they find the underlying cause of his condition and can treat it quickly. Take care of yourself too!
Congratulations to all those who have stuck it out this month - my first month here but I have enjoyed being a part of this group, reading your successes and setbacks, your encouragement and inspiration and for all your kind works and PM's you have sent me - thank you and I wish you all the very best for August's UAC!4 -

Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes

Congratulations to all that are making it to the Winner's Circle today!
I didn't post much the second half of July, but I've been here following along and rooting for @everyone.
I learned many valuable lessons this month and am ending the month much stronger than I began!
Thank you @RangerRickL for keeping this challenge going!
I'm ready for August; bring it on!5 -
July 31
Exercise: 30 min yoga
Calories: yes
tracked: yes
No miles today after a long run yesterday I need a rest.
Lesson Learned: I am ready to do this again! SEE YA IN AUGUST!!
I did accomplish important goals with this challenge. I lost 4 lbs YAY! 6.2 since 6/28. I look and feel better. I have been following a low FODMAP program and am much less bloated and less tummy troubles although I have to be very careful. (This is a 'diet' but not really for people with IBS).
Found some strength when it came to sweets. Chat stuff out almost completely with a couple of days of treats.
Walk/ran 90 miles. A bunch of those with my dog who is MUCHO happy!
@2020pinktogo So sorry to hear about your husband. Prayers that he gets better!
Congrats to everyone!!!!!5 -
Apologies for going AWOL at the end of the month. Work got totally crazy at the end of last week ad unfortunately I came down with a migraine on the weekend to top it off.
Congratulations to all who made the winners circle - what a great long list for the month6 -
Congrats everyone in and out of the winner's circle! See you all in August...under a different name however1

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes..60 minutes Trail Run/Walk, 45 minute Cardio Drumming class, and a 75 minute Vinyasa Flow Yoga class.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yep
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yep1 -
Congratulations to those who made the winner's circle. Yay! Job well done.
Congratulations to the rest of us who worked hard and made good progress.
Last week was busy; visitors, travelling, and family wedding. Lots of distractions.
A busy week ahead; new windows coming in and today one of our big old trees was chopped down. Lots of outer chaos which does not bring inner calm. A challenge for me not to emotionally eat!! I will succeed! My new mantra for the month.
@craigo3154 Good luck with maintenance. I will be there soon so hoping to learn from you
@aeshippers No worries.
@am_change Hope your little one's fever is over soon.
@2020pinktogo Sorry to hear about your husband's spine infection. Sheesh. I hope the doctors figure things out soon.

Ended the month with tracking and staying under calories. Light exercise day two 30 minute walks.
Thanks to everyone for such open discussions. Even if I don't respond I get a lot out of the thread. @RangerRickL Great Challenge !!!!! Wishing everybody a great August!!6 -
I am so pleased that so many of our team mates had a great month. There are many winners who did not make it to the Winner's Circle, but still had great success. Remember, this challenge is about building healthy habits. That can easily take several months of trial and error.
I finished well.
Calories: Under my limit by a few
Tracking: checked my calories and poured 2/3 of a beer on the ground.
Exercise: played outside with two grand daughters tonight and I did 30 minutes of active stretching in the morning.4 -
Yes x 3.
Ran around all day for work, then walking dog.
It's been so nice doing this together. Thank you @RangerRick for leading us, and thank you @Craig for co-leading and offering such good advice.3 -
July 31: yes x 3 biceps and chest today and finished up some challenges I was part of. see ya'll in August!4

Took pass #3 today. To bed at midnight and up at 4 am and travelling for 12 hours left me so exhausted. I really tried to muster up the energy to hit the fitness room but as soon as I let myself lie down I knew I wasn't getting back up. Today was the first day of a retreat focused on rest and renewal. So I took my final pass day. Exercise is something that fills me and brings me joy so I will definitely be fitting it into the rhythm of my days here.
Congrats to everyone for all their hard work this month! You guys were such a motivation and inspiration to me!0 -
woohoo, made it through the day with 3 yesses so I will be in the winners circle......woohoo
Congratulations @everyone who made the winners circle and @everyone who had a successful month but did not make the circle. I appreciate each and every one of you.
@Dosse1320 You have been a GREAT cheerleader this month, thank you. I am looking forward to seeing you reach your goal. YOU CAN DO THIS!
@Slimpossible007 YOU DID IT! woohoo good for you........the second half of your month was awesome too, welcome to the circle.
@craigo3154 I really like your plan of how you are increasing your calories. Happy maintaining. Really enjoyed reading about your successes this month!
@aeshippers nice to see you back!
#2020pinktogo hope they figure out what is going on with your husband. Lots to deal with. Hope you are taking some time to look after YOU.
@SimonsChange What a great month you had! Wow! Can't wait to see your goals for August
@everyone I am sorry I have not been on here to cheer for you as much this month. Does not mean I haven't been reading about your successes and liking your posts. I am really looking forward to reading about your successes in August as well.....We are all doing awesome!

Good place to see how I did vs my goals for the monthcraigo3154 wrote: »...
Goals for this month:
- Be in winners circle (track everything, keep under budget, 20+ mins exercise per day, no more than 3 pass days)
- Lose 2kg (MFP intake set at -0.5kg per week)
- Stay honest (even if it puts me out of the circle for the month) and continue past failings (forgive mistakes and keep moving forward)
- Encourage others where possible
...
Results:- Made winners circle
- Lost 5.4 kg (well over the 2kg - made my MFP goal {and then some})
- Cannot think of where I was not honest with the group {or myself}. A few times I felt like bending the truth, but honesty IS the BEST policy.
- Only the group can judge the "encourage others where possible".
Learnings for the month:- Rest days are hard to stick to (even though I know they are important).
- In order to slow down I will have to start to eat back more exercise calories.
- Maintenance for me is a little scary.
@RangerRickL. Thank you for running this group. It has helped me more than I can express. Don't know if you made circle yourself this month (I recall seeing at least 2 passes). Even if not, you are a hero in my book.
@BexDun. It was shattering to read your post on the 30th. SO close. Such a great month. I really feel for you. I REALLY applaud you for keeping honest (would have been so easy to have not been - takes guts to acknowledge so close to the line). Look forward to seeing you in August.
@Dosse1320. Thanks for sticking with us. You have been enormous support. I am looking forward to seeing you succeed.
@Slimpossible007. Awesome. Welcome to the circle. You worked hard to get here.
@aeshippers. Great to see you back. You have been missed. Hopefully less disaster next month.
@2020pinktogo. Hope you can get your husband to see sense. Spinal problems (like infections) are not to be messed with. Infection can lead to inflammation and even nerve damage. Nerve damage in the spine can be permanent and become severely life limiting (not only for him, but you too).
@SimonsChange. Fantastic month. Man! you cover some ground.
@zorrocat. Looking forward to a great August. Keep climbing back on that wagon. Hard work, but well worth it.
@fightingthetideofaging. Love reading about your activities. Always so interesting. Great month (again). Quiet achiever of the group.
@trixsey1. Amazing first month. Well done. 7 lbs for the month is fantastic. Awesome work.
This is an amazing group. I love how may are continuing next month.
Everyone who made it to July 31 is a winner in my book (even if I did not mention you directly).
Look forward to seeing you all next month.

July 31:
Finished strong with three yeses again. Stumbled a bit at the end there and didn't make the winner's circle, but July was a successful month. My average weight is down three pounds from where it was at the start of the month. Here's to three more in August (which would get me to my target weight)!4
