The UAC team has had some emotionally challenging sharing and caring. I thought today would be a good time for a relaxing post. Winston Churchill said,'There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of the rider."
I feel that way, but I know not everyone does. Is there an animal that soothes your soul?
Have a great day!

August 21
Exercised?: Yes. Walked 5 Km in 40 mins (hills).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Little tired today. Still managed to break the 40 min mark which I am pleased about. Rained for most of the day here, fortunately let up before dark. May need more sleep.
Will take to opportunity to get an early night.
We have two cats (that remain indoors) and visiting kookaburra's. I've attached a photo of me feeding some on the weekend. Kookaburra's are meat eaters, not seed, so we feed them cut up heart. It took a few months to get them comfortable enough to perch on an arm. They are still wild birds. We purposefully feed them little enough so they still have to hunt.

@rangerrickL - Beautiful horse, is she one of yours Rick?
@craigo3154 - Wow, gorgeous birds. Nice to see them perched on your arm like that Craig.
I've never been too sure of horses. I've never rode one either, although I've never had the opportunity to do so, I would be too nervous and I think she would sense that.
As a kid I had a small dog, she went everywhere with me outside of school. I was out walking one day and I passed this field with a mother horse and her foal. I approached the horses, and fussed the foal, but the mother got spooked. She charged at me and stomped my poor dog to the ground.
I know she was just protecting her baby, and I should have never have approached her in the first place especially with a dog at my heels, but ever since then I've been a bit wary of them and the fact I was just a kid when this happened and my lack of experience with such animals led to my dogs death.
I never enter a field now with horses just to be on the safe side, and if I pass any out walking, I pick up my little dog until they've moved on - don't get me wrong I love horses, as I do all animals, but horses, as gorgeous as they are, I like best if there's a bit of distance between us.
Dogs on the other hand, we're birds of a feather. I get along better with dogs than I do people, lol. I've always had a dog, usually an older recuse although my last dog, (in my profile pic) I got from a pup, just 9 weeks old. I'm lost without a soggy nosed pal at my side, lol.

Sooo, today....

Exercised?: Yes
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Had a rest from any type of workout today, but my day has still been full.
I own quite a few pets, mainly reptiles and aquatics (fish, newts, turtles etc) and today I decided to clean the entire "zoo".
So, been hauling fish tanks, buckets of water and vivariums around today, along with cleaning the entire house as well. It's been a busy day to say the least, lol.
Also had to walk the woofies of course, but not as long today.
Total distance travelled: 9.8km
Total steps walked: 13,723
Total calories burned: 838
Total calories consumed: 1358

Calories: quite a bit under today.
Exercise: walking. Didn't get to go to the gym as I had a dentist and hair cut while I had childcare this morning. Probably a good thing as my muscles have been aching!
Another animal lover here, with a lovely black cat on my feet as I type this, but the toddler's just woken up crying so I'll have to share more another time!3 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Got 4 miles in and worked on my grandmas estate
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
(104.84/ 140) Mile Goal
Auctioneer is coming out on friday to examine my old family house so I'll be doing tons of yardwork this week getting it all nice and ready.
I'm very big into animals I love them all but I probably find Raccoons the most amusing to watch, the fact they wash their hands and food just makes me laugh. I tend to watch a lot of wild animals back from my old place and now on my hiking trail I tend to come in contact with a lot of Deer which for some reason never seem startled so it's very peaceful when I sit down for a break and watch them.

How nice to open this page and see a beautiful horse, and then birds! I love animals and prefer them to people. I have a great dog named Laszlo, and thanks to him, I feel no need to get married again haha!
He visits patients with me, goes to the office, hikes, listens to all my phone calls. He's even an unofficial member of UAC and has lost 0.5lbs this month. He a smart devil, and I love him.7 -
A little bit light on exercise so I fail on that.
No winners circle for me but ...
On the upside I did eat or constrain my eating for sedentary.
The other uptick is that the doc cleared me for exercise the way I like to do it, so tomorrow I am going to do it. Then I will go see Buddy.
Animals ... I haven't got a real fresh animal pic so I will put one from a while ago. You have probably already seen it. These birds migrate so I see them in the winter.
Oh yeah, eclipse day. I almost forgot. It was cloudy but I could kind of see it through the clouds briefly. Didn't get any pics.

@trixsey1 I have 3 registered paint horses, but one of them is almost 100% reddish brown with only one dim white spot. She is the one who had surgery on her hoof. The vet is optimistic that she will recover in full by next summer.
The horse in the photo is similar to one that I own. My 3rd horse is a black & white paint that I bought for my wife Rose.
We have two dogs and a cat named Pixel. When the children were with us we had all manner of creatures including reptiles and birds.
My report:
In recovery...
Calories were way under as I seek to get my GI tract calmer after the gluten full weekend

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes. Dog walk and a walk up The Strip
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? No, I made great plans today that needed celebrating
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes, it wasn't pretty
What animals bring me peace: I have two Pit Mix's who have my heart. They are 7 and 10. Our daily routine is - get up, 3 mile walk, wait for them to cool down, feed them (I feed raw) and then they sleep pretty much for the rest of the day. The ground gets too hot for a second walk atm, but come autumn, they'll get an afternoon/evening walk too. I love to see them sleeping, it's really peaceful to me. On the nature side, I like birds, particularly raptors but one of my favourite things ever, is to watch geese flying in formation, I find it really majestic, the way they communicate and work as a unit, it's a beautiful sight.3 -

When I was growing up we had a stray German Shepherd for about 7 years. My one daughter has 2 cats and her children absolutely LOVE them. It's really neat to see them cuddle these cats.3 -
We didn't have any pets when I was growing up, but as an adult, I've really come to appreciate two pets, in particular.
The first is Bruno, my sister's dog. He is a cute, cuddly, and loving maltipoo. I admire that he has a calm demeanour and doesn't really seem bothered by anything.
The second was my boyfriend's dog. She was some sort of herding dog and she brought me great joy. She was my running partner and made me feel so safe, even though she was virtually deaf and couldn't have heard any perpetrators
When we started off running together, she was so spry--basically, she pulled me along. As I got better endurance, we ran side by side. Sadly, as time passed, our roles reversed and it was me running ahead of her.
She was such a loving dog. Unconditionally loving and greeting each new day with amazing pep.
She's gone now, but I never would have thought that life lessons could be learned through a pet--now I know better:)1 -
Yes x3. One and a half days of vacation left, I can do this. Got in a walk with some running intervals this afternoon. I so badly want to love running but I just can't seem to get there.
I've always thought of myself as an animal lover, I had dogs and birds growing up and a cat in college. But at this point in life I have no desire to own one. My 8 year old daughter has been obsessed with cats since she was little. Even though she's a bit allergic, she can't resist them. (My husband is terribly allergic so we will never own one) It brings me joy to see her attempt to snuggle any cat that crosses her path!
I do have a bit of a thing for doves. I'm an artist and a lot of my paintings end up with a dove in there somewhere.1 -

Maggie in my screen name is a 6 year old black lab. I will be forever greatful for that pooch. We got her as a puppy at Christmas . Then two months later there was major trauma in our community that affected my family. She became our kids personal therapy dog . The power of a pet's love can be amazing.1 -

I love animals! I live in a tiny apartment while I finish school, so I don't currently own one, but I grew up with a house full of family pets and cannot wait to add some to my family. In the meantime, I enjoy going home to my parents' and getting my animal fix from their family pets, two cats and a dog. They are a lifetime commitment and deserve a lot of love, so I'm waiting until I can without a doubt provide for them before I rescue my own.0 -
Yes x 3, did P90X Back and Biceps today.0
