As martial artists who are also members of a WL and fitness website, it can be helpful for us to remain accountable to each other, and share training ideas.
Any time you participate in class, or practice out side of class, post here and let everyone know. You can write something as simple as "Went to sparring class... got my licks in", or get into as much detail on the practice as you'd like.
This post gets rebuilt every week, to remind us to approach each practice/training/class with a fresh perspective:
- It doesn't matter how hard you worked yesterday... what matters is what you do today.

Class was pretty good. I took BW's advice on the shoulders. I got started with my practicing a little earlier so I could do some independent punching drills while looking at my reflection in the windows. After class I asked my instructor about it. He said he did notice the difference. Thanks again BW!
We did a lot of kicking drills, many with combo kicks. I did those in slow motion. Pivoting on my right leg is still making me nervous about reinjury. Bright side, it's forcing me to work on my balancing.0 -
Boxing class then a 5k run yesterday.
Today I am going to do some strength and conditioning then MMA class. Hope to get some sparring in afterward.1 -
Hmm, I guess I should say yesterday I also did a midday workout on the treadmill where I incorporated my PT exercises: alternating between walking backwards on an incline, sidestepping, and then regular forward incline walking. All at varying speeds.
This morning I had my PT. I give it my all and definitely consider it a workout.1 -
so far monday I went to handstands and acrobatics classes - they were taught by the same teacher this week (my regular acrobatics teacher) who is really tough on the conditioning. my arms are sore. tuesday I had a semi-private wushu lesson. was really hard - i was mentally already exhausted and didn't feel like going but i am behind on my classes due to the fires so I made myself go. It was really hard, really helpful and I'm glad I went. i find that especially on days that I'm stressed out from work, I need to write notes down or I totally get fog brain and forget what things I got corrections on!2

@Soy_K It's funny - usually the class/workout that I don't feel like doing are the ones I'm most glad for when I'm done.2

45 min practice last night. Review of lower forms white through green belt, one-steps, interspersed with working on my tournament form.0

On Monday, myself and my fellow yellow belt asked our instructor about buying sparring gear, of course if he thought we are ready for it. He said yes. Now that there are more lower belts in class he'll have us start sparring before the end of this session. He also mentioned since there had been no new additions to class in such a long while he'd been staying away from sparring because people were getting bored sparring with the same people over and over.3

I did my normal mid-day workout yesterday-I focused on Core.
Had class last night. No sparring gear yet but....after forms and drills we spent some time doing some non-contact sparring. Non-contact so us newbies to sparring can get a better feel for it. Oh boy, already having a blast with it.
And this morning I had my final, yes final PT session. Woohoo!1 -
1 hour late night forms practice... Getting ready for competition.0

Tuesday's Kata class was cut short because my youngest got sick. The class was small, so they were nice enough to run through the kata with me and my oldest before we bailed. I'm excited that I've got all the moves...I've just got to work on getting lower in my stances and making it sharper. And landing the spinning hook kick...it's my current nemesis.
Last night's karate/muay tai sparring class was intense. We did stretching with a partner, which I've never done before. And after sparring we did partner drills holding pads for them. My partner was a 15 year old female black belt. I'm pretty sure that I got more of a workout holding for her than punching and kicking myself.

Thurs night private lesson - finally got a flat down middle split for the first time in my life! I know my 3 beginners forms (elementary long fist, broadsword and staff) well enough now but coach said now we add all the details for performance- timing and expression - having been a dancer this part is super fun. I start a new form next week and started learning straight sword drills.2

@Soy_K Congratulations on middle split! My hips don't go there, unfortunately... I'm trying to get back to my lowest point, but that's still about 2 inches off the ground.0

Spent about 20 minutes forms practice - nice and easy today.0

Due to a stupid infection resulting in a round of antibiotics, I didn't get much training in this week. I did get a private session with my coach though which helped me work through some of the challenges I am having and how to overcome them (mostly getting stuck at the bottom and unable to escape). Back to full strength on Saturday for the start of our new fundamentals class where we focused on closed guard for over an hour. Rolled with a new white belt girl (my coach's girlfriend, so she has been watching for ages but to actually doing Jiu Jitsu), a brown belt and my coach at open mat and already happy with the progress after that private.
Looking forward to a good week ahead...3 -
My training's been a bit hit and miss for the last week because of being off work/my kids being of school for holidays. I've managed a few conditioning sessions in the gym, and a couple of training sessions but all of my additional cardio (usually done in my commute or during my work day) was dropped in favour of sitting around doing not much. I did manage to keep my weight from going up, which is probably a first time for me when I'm off work!
Back to training properly last night, I'm breaking in my new gi before my next grading in 2 weeks. Last night was basic drills and one-step sparring. We don't do enough one step and I don't really like it, but it is a necessary evil! I followed the lesson with an hour of weights when I got home, because one-step doesn't leave me feeling like I've done a hard training session. In the next week I'm hoping to tighten up my grading katas, I need to do 11 kata for this grade but the grading kata is Bassai Dai which is my all-time favourite2
