    Mornin' BBB.

Missed checking in yesterday. Whew. Busy and long day. Started early and ran late.

Got a call from a very cold Billy the Greek on way home from work. Babe had a good first series. Guess the wind kicked up and chilled everyone to the bone. Facebook page is public with lots of photos, but alas, none of Babe or Billy the Greek.

Skip, house hunting in Arlington? I'm with Kelly on this one, hate moving.

Lisa, rock on. Hope the Redwings game was fun.

Congrats on nailing the interview, Lou.

    Good Morning,
Hope all got a great hump in!
    Lee, enjoy your day off.
Lou, it is always easier to get a job when you already have one; but commutes can really put a damper on life. For about 20 years lived about 3 miles from job, down side was everyone thought I should stop what I was doing and handle anything that came up and all hours. Now I'm 60 miles away, set my own hours within reason and have a great excuse not to work extra or come in on a whim.
Skip, since all others are retired; thinking of moving should fit into your work dynamics because they are not having to go out daily.
Made it through yoga then paid price last night, still swollen this morning.
    Glad ailing are improving.
Gotta go prep for a talk with some inmates, do not know why I agreed.
    Enjoy the Day,
    Sam I am

    Morning~

DMIL and DW intent on finding a variant setup. We'll see. DFIL fell (again last night) - he's okay, but the stress in the house with an 87 and 83 y/o is wreaking havoc on DW who's nerves are shot! Oi Vay.

Physical yesterday. Bloodwork lecture (not good)! I'm a middle aged fat man under stress. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Today - meeting new office to attend their monthly staff meeting (on site). I conditionally accepted their offer contingent on retiring early from Federal Service.

Good luck AB! Can't wait to hear about how she smoked the field!!!

Lou - hope you get the call today. Sounds like a crappy commute....

Make it a great and inspiring day! ~Skipper

    Good Morning BBB.
Dermatologist biopsied 8 spots yesterday. Bring on the healing.
Heading downtown this morning for Jack's photo shoot
Lou - today's drive is Wauconda to 2255 S Michigan Avenue. I did the commute from Northfield to the Federal building or to 26th & California for nearly 15 years. Not sure how I did it.
Lee - sending warm thoughts to BTG and AB
Sam - sorry about the aftermath of yoga. This too shall pass.
    Do good out there everyone.

Good morning. It’s cold here. Wowzer

I’m glad to read you rocked the interview Lou. Good luck with the follow up.

Maybe moving would be good with elderly living with you? No steps. But like I said the thought of me moving makes me nauseous.

Cat sitting for 8 days. My friend and her bf went to California to see his kids.

Nice treat Saturday as DH and I will be Downtown Chicago for the day/night. Just a quick fun trip. Be home Sunday.

Hope you heal up soon from yoga sam!

The special coffee cup I’ve ordered is on its way to me. I can’t wait to see it!! Ha.

Lee, hoping for warmer temps for the dogs and handlers.

    What’s everyone’s thanksgiving plans??

    Make it a fantastic day!!

    Good morning BBB.

Congratulations on the new position, Skip (I guess).

Talk of commuting always gives me that warm, "I'm retired!" happy feeling.

I start turning the plywood variety of vessels for my sister's artwork, today. I expect this to go much slower than the solid wood ones did - and that took too long.

Our Thanksgiving will be back at DS and DDIL's house, now. I am bringing several dishes - a cheese and cracker plate, mashed potatoes, corn pudding - DDIL is dealing with the turkey. She says her stress level is more under control and they really want to celebrate in their home. Works fine for us/

    Good morning BBB Friends.
    • Warm thoughts for Babe and BTG.
    • 10 more days til we set sail for the Caribbean. How's that for warm thoughts?
    • Sam, talking to inmates? Are they not paying for their meals?
    • Okay Lou, CRO? Control Room Operator, Chief Risk Officer, Client Relationship Officer, Certified Racing Official, Crazy Ranting Oldguy? I'm guessing Sam and Steve know. My idea of high finance is buying a new set of Michelins, which I am in the process of doing.
    • BTW, congrats on nailing the interview.
    • I'm off to the gun range.

    Good Morning

Raine, hope all is well, keep us posted !

Stressful experience at the car dealership awaiting my new headlamp bulb install install (yes Mazda has made sure you have to go to a dealer to replace a bulb). A young woman with her husband went into a full blown epileptic seizure in the waiting room. I tried to do what I could to assist him. She did come out of it after a while. He didn't want to call 911. He was so thankful to me for my concern and assistance, etc. I told him this is what people are suppose to do, help each other out, no problem.... sad that folks think that helping is so out of the ordinary in todays world.

Dennis, glad you are enjoying your new life! Be safe at the range today!

Yay to AB for a good run!

Lou, hope it goes that way you want it to! Travel time does account for something. I hate driving the highways in bad winter weather. Seems folks in IL drive fast and sway in and out of the lanes, tailgate etc., not too mention all the tollways $$$, its all too much for my liking. If I can avoid IL and let someone else drive south, I do. But good luck on the offer, maybe they'll make it worth your while!

Kelly, Im setting our Thanksgiving table for 9. We need one more guest to even it up!!! DS1 can't join us, he'll be working the arena for Men's basketball that weekend with Ohio State.... Ds2 and gf and pooch, SO's two kids and his sister and husband, & my brother.

Congrats on tentative new job, Skip. There's is that "retirement" word again.

Heh. Mary, it may have been easier and even money to have your SO just replace the entire light, if you consider the time spent sitting in dealership. Cool you were able to assist that couple. Hope they are getting some professional medical supervision.

    Interesting take on commuting, Sam.

    Prayers for benign biopsies, Raine!

Its a sucky, rainy day here.

French restaurant for us on Turkey day. There will be too much wine and too much butter, but no leftovers in fridge.

    Good morning.

CRO = Chief Revenue Officer. Aka Sales. Corporate titles are stupid.

I had a short commute of 4 miles a couple of times in my career. That was great, but I definitely put in the extra hours. The last job, in Romeoville, had a solid hour commute. But, there were two ways to get there in that hour, so that made normal weather annoyances less of a problem. Going to that part of the city from where I am, there's really only one way to do it - and everybody does it.

Electrician broke Cecilia's heart this morning with a quote that almost makes it more cost effective to burn down the house a day start over rather than pay for the wiring work she wanted.

    Lou - I know a guy!

Retirement papers submitted - just waiting for the approval. We'll see!

Sounds like its gonna be quite a soiree, Mary! Enjoy!

Understand quote for wiring; I wanted natural gas hookup on deck so I would not have to fool with propane tanks for grill; only $2,000, needless to say it's not happening.

Dennis, financial literacy for inmates hopefully getting out and have gotten GED.

I wanted for me and DW to go to B & B for Thanksgiving, in fact we were offered tickets free of charge. But children called and said they were planning on coming to our house so of course DW said come on. Therefore I started planning for 10 folks, told DW I'll get local Farmview to prepare most so we would not have so much to do. DGD has many food allergies therefore we have to prepare food ourselves. Then got call last night, can my family come; and me not saying no; we'll have 16 for Thanksgiving.

Skip, we have a ranch home with a full basement; DMIL has her own bedroom, bath, living room and kitchenette in daylight basement with a private patio. DMIL spends most of her time upstairs so she can aggravate DW and me. She will drag stuff upstairs to mess up our kitchen instead of using downstairs. Getting ready to go to bed last night, countertop in kitchen covered with crumbs and stuff where DMIL did not cleanup afterself. I'm really tired of seeing her shoes left on front porch, dining room, great room and our deck. Think I'll just start dropping them in trash.

As for commute 7 months and 10 days

Sam - we are trying to get something that avoids them doing stairs at all. The stairlift is really unsightly for them to go upstairs....the falling is becoming more and more of a worry. The anxiety around here is palpable. Poor guy is afraid to get out of his chair - for fear of someone screaming at him to use the walker. Oi!

16 for any occasion is stressful! NOPE! We used to host and it got to be WAY TOO MUCH work and hassle and no appreciation to boot. KMA! Small and simple now and then retreat to the VFW to serve thankful veterans. That is the joy of Thanksgiving.

    Cheers

We are almost 50 at thanksgiving. My cousin is hosting. I’m taking eggs and green bean casserole.
Mary, that had to be scary!!
I know a guy who wires. Imagine that!! Getting ready to install can lights, ceiling fan and a new outdoor light. Woot

    • Home from the gun range and no one got hurt.
    • Had some excellent BBQ on the way home.
    • Kelly, Princess Cruise to Antigua and St. Thomas. It was one of those last minute specials. They are almost paying us to go. The advantage of being retired and don't need to ask the boss for time off.

My SIL is doing all the cooking for Thanksgiving. I wish I could do the green bean casserole ... I'm jealous, Kelly! I like mine MUCH better than the regular. But, the cool thing about letting her do Thanksgiving is that that means I'll get to do Christmas. I'll take that.

Bible study tonight was incredible. I love my groups that I meet with, in every area of life! They're so authentic, intelligent, and uplifting. I am changed with every one, in a good way, in a deep way.
