As martial artists who are also members of a WL and fitness website, it can be helpful for us to remain accountable to each other, and share training ideas.
Any time you participate in class, or practice out side of class, post here and let everyone know. You can write something as simple as "Went to sparring class... got my licks in", or get into as much detail on the practice as you'd like.
This post gets rebuilt every week, to remind us to approach each practice/training/class with a fresh perspective:
- It doesn't matter how hard you worked yesterday... what matters is what you do today.

tonight was a handstands and acrobatics classes night for me. I held a handstand for 12 seconds (a very long time for me! ) and in acrobatics we are doing back tuck flips. it was my first time being hooked up to a belt and rope and trying the back tuck flip from the ground. i was really scared, but i'm glad i stuck it through class. i don't know how much progress i really made, but just trying it a dozen times was enough for me tonight!2

I managed to run through all my katas at least three times each without too much interference from my dog. It was raining so she mostly watched me from under cover2

Got in some rolls at kids class yesterday and a short fitness session. Super low energy thanks to 3 hours sleep due to driving back after the guys divisions finished on Sunday.
Gym session this morning and yoga at lunch before jits class tonight!!!3 -
Kimura drills for days (bruises on forearms to prove it!) plus a couple of good rolls. Rolling with our best blue belt girl who is super athletic and coach says to me, if I tap while I am still, it's bad but if I tap while I'm moving it's a win! I need to focus on moving more, so that gives me something to work on when rolling with those who are much better than me. I don't mind taping to a better opponent, but it is nice to be progressing even while I do that.2

last night I joined the kids group class (in order to let my teacher go home earlier) but he insisted i stay afterwards to learn more of my new form, so I ended up having a 40 minute private lesson after class. I can already tell that I'm going to love straightsword the best of all the weapon forms so far.0

Karate and Kobudo were in the same building, on the same night last night. We had a crossover so we couldn't do all of both classes, we joined the karate class for a warm up and some sparring, and then went over to kobudo for a more relaxed training session (our lesson always starts with the youngest person in the room making a pot of green tea, and continues in much the same way). We worked on sword kata and kusari (chains), and the karate club came in halfway through to watch what we were doing - swords and chains are my absolute worst, I would have preferred them to come in when I was being all cool with my bo staff!
At the end of the lesson, my son was awarded Member of the Year. I am so very proud of him, he's shown a level of dedication I don't expect to see in a 14 year old, to have earned the whole group's respect in the 9 months he's been training there is pretty impressive. And just to make it extra special, our karate Sensei had hung around for the end of the lesson, so he got to see Dom's award too. I'm a very proud mummy today4 -
@LuizH Congratulations for your son's achievement!0

Forms practice last night - just a short one, as work has kept me very busy lately - but should get in another round tonight.2

I got another 50 min semi-private lesson after a group class last night and learned more of the straight sword. I'm going to a different wushu class tomorrow where the class is very small (usually the same 3-4 people) and one guy learns tai chi while the rest of us learn wushu. I'm going to bring my mom so she can try tai chi out!1

We got our grading results today after class. Apparently my grade was a source of contention. Because I previously got my black belt in Goju ryu my head sensei said I must just wear my black belt. But because I did not do any training for about 11 years, my sensei does not feel that I am at black belt level anymore (which I completely agree with). So I am now brown belt and my sensei says that by September next year I should be back up to black belt standard!3

We had a martial arts demo this morning at the car dealership who sponsors my coach. Various different styles of martial arts or mma came and did 15 minute demos. It was interesting to see the other styles and how different they are, but I loved the opportunity to chat to the judo guys as I have been saying for ages that I want to do my yellow belt. Now I have spoken to them it is even more a goal for next year (after I have done another competition or two...)2

Congratulations on your Grading!
For a while I trained with another group that insisted I wear a white belt with two giant black stripes to show my previous rank through another system (I was 2nd dan at the time)... but still wanted me to line up as though I were wearing a black belt. It felt so awkward to be A) wearing a white belt with two 2-inch stripes on it... to be flanked on both sides in line ups by black belts while I wore a white belt... and C) the look on people's faces when we started sparring, especially the ones who weren't there for the announcement of my rank.

Haha! I can imagine! I would much rather be underestimated and slip into anonymity with the white belts. That said, our class is not big and we don't really line up according to belt levels except at gashukus0 -
Black belt class yesterday.. First really solid workout I've had in a few days, and I'm feeling it this morning!
Started off with conditioning (pullups, pushups, burpees, squats), then on to sparring, forms and board breaks.

Holiday means open mat every morning (of course, I'm not on holiday but I will still get there about 3 times a week) and evening class isn't over yet so double jiu jitsu day!!!!
Rolled with coach who was very impressed with my current rolling. He noticed last week I tend to roll with my eyes closed and I am doing better at keeping them open. He commented that I seem to be much more switched on with my rolling. Having comps to focus on definitely helps me with focus.2
