Welcome to the first UAC of 2018!
Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. I can tell you that it is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

Hi,
I am new to this kind of challenge, but I like the format. I am trying to get down to a BMI right dead center of a healthy weight. I've always known that I had type II diabetes galloping through my birth father's family, but recently found out that is on my birth mom's side as well. The more weight I drop, the better my odds are at avoiding it!
I'm hoping this kind of a challenge will keep me focused on the prize. Right now my BMI is a little bit over 27 and I'm trying for a BMI of 22. Whew. I have some work to do! This will let me focus on one month at a time.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and encouraging each other in the coming month!8 -
Yay! This may be just what I am looking for. I join different groups to keep myself accountable, but sadly, they end up falling apart until I'm the last one (or one of a few) participating. I do my best at eating better and exercising when I know I'm being held accountable because of my competitive side.
I started losing weight in the beginning of May, and I did it through MFP and a weight loss challenge I joined. I was able to lose 40 lbs. I stopped losing weight in mid October because the challenge was over, and I had a lot going on. I had my 10 yr anniversary (we never had a ceremony when we were first married, so we finally got to have one with our family), then Thanksgiving, now Christmas. I haven't gained any weight back, but I still have more to go.
When I first started, my BMI was 42 (high class obese), but it has since dropped to 35. Still obese, but significantly better. I want to drop another 40 lbs, which will put me in the "overweight" category, but I think I'd look anorexic if I ever got down to my ideal weight. I have a large frame. I had joined a walking challenge to put my steps at 10,000+ a day. I've since lost out on that, too. I'm back down to around 7,000 a day.
So here I go again. I'm not sure if it's realistic or not, but I'd love to lose that last 40 lbs by May, or at least 30.10 -
First MFP group every joined - thankful to be here. I'm excited about my weight loss journey. My goal is to reduce my weight by 82 pounds. 1 to 1.5 pounds loss per week. In addition to the weight loss, I'm looking forward to a more "fit" me. More energy, a stronger body. No longer want to feel tired all the time.
MFP is a great tool and I've been tracking consistently since 12/8. One think I find very positive about MFP is to see calories and nutrients of my food choices. Along with MFP, I'm using Fitbit Charge 2.

Hi, I’m Jackie from Washington State, this is my second UAC Challenge, love how it keeps me accountable for my diet and exercising.....Sometimes when it’s hard to get going I think, 30 mins can be broken down in increments... Plus logging everything is keeping me honest....thanks for getting this awesome challenge going...8

Merry Christmas everyone! My weight is creeping up and I need to get more strict with my eating and exercise and hope you all will help me with my goal to lose 20 pounds! Happy New Year and best of luck with your own healthy goals!7

Hi again and welcome back old-timers and new members alike! I’m returning after a brief hiatus (okay, 3 months...shhh, don’t read that too loudly). Lol! I’m ready for a new year of accountably with my friends at UAC. Still fighting to make my good habits stick, as I know is totally possible. Thanks for all of the support through this challenge. All the best as we meet our goals together this month.9

Hi, I’m new to this. I’ve heard of MFP in the past and rarely used it. I’ve gotten quite out of shape and gained a lot of weight. I used to run and be active. Now I just eat and sleep. Im excited to get healthy again.8

Hello everyone, I am currently a junior in college. I've been feeling extremely self conscious about my weight and I'd like to lose it now so that by graduation (May 2019) i am back to the size i am most comfortable at.. i started college at around 140-145 and now i am up to about 205. (Im 5'8") i know it should be more abput how i feel but i felt my best at that weight. Is 60 lbs in 17-18 months doable?8

Count me in! I did this challenge in December - it really helps keep you mindful. I'm a teacher and mom, and I do love fitness. The hard part for me is My hormones are changing and altering my body. I want to get healthy and fit.6

Hi all, I am glad to join this challenge since I need some motivation to eat healthier and workout more. I would also like to control my problem with emotional eating. At the beginning of last year I was at my highest weight and since then I lost around 5 kilos. I think that if I set my mind to it I can definitly lose more weight and become even healthier. Hopefully we can all do it by supporting each other4

Hi everyone! I am 29 and a single mom to two boys (7 y/o & 3 y/o). I'm also a graduate student! I am graduating June 7th, 2018 (with my Masters Degree in Social Work) and am really hoping to get to my goal weight by then.
Like many others I have a long history of weight struggles. Mine started with puberty and continued with life stresses and kids. My highest weight ever was on delivery day for my youngest. I weighed in at the hospital at 253.5 lbs (11/6/14). I am currently 185 and I have a goal weight of 145. I tend to do well with exercise (I do Beach Body workouts and track my steps on Fitbit), but I REALLY struggle with emotional/stress eating. Since I commute to my practicum and classes (2-4 hours round trip) I have also struggled with smacking to stay awake and alert.
My life is chaotic and I really don't want that to be an excuse not to meet my goals. Both my boys have special needs and have various therapies that I take them too on top of my school and practicum. Sometimes I wonder how I will make things fit and that's when the stress kicks in.
BUT.. I am starting a new journey in 2018! I want to finally be a health BMI and weight; I want to feel good about myself on the inside and the outside; I want to set an example of strength and commitment to my two boys!
I feel like this challenge is the right opportunity for me to engage in a space of accountability, which is something that I feel is necessary for me to lose this last 40 pounds. Here we go, we got this!

Hi all! This will be my third month here. I love it! This challenge has been a great help because of my competitive nature with even myself. I have forced myself to get that workout in or not have a drink to make me go over calories just because I don’t want to take a pass here lol! I have two more pounds til my goal weight and then will transition to maintenance calories. That may be trickier for me but the challenge keeps me motivated!7

Hi everyone! This is my first MFP challenge!
Since hitting mid/late twenties and developing PCOS, my body shape has changed. No longer can I eat whatever I want, so I am learning how to hold myself accountable and restrict my eating to a proper level. I would like to lose the 10 lbs (pretty much all belly fat, thanks PCOS!) I've gained in the past few years and regain the strength I used to have as a circus performer.
My biggest roadblocks are grazing and boredom/comfort eating. I'm going to plan meals and stick to it. (I have an easy spreadsheet if anyone's interested - you can enter foods and their calories, it adds them up by day and by week - easier than looking stuff up in MFP if you already know the calories.)4 -

Hi @EmilyMagic That goal is definitely doable as long as you stay on track, don't push yourself too hard, and make this a lifestyle change. When I first began focusing on my health, I was at 245lbs. That was this past May. Now I'm down to 205. But I've been 205 since mid-Oct, so in reality it only took me 5 months to lose 40 lbs. So your goal is doable, but it will take discipline. I'm hoping this UAC will help me discipline myself and I can get down another 40 lbs. I won't be at my ideal weight, but it'll be ideal enough for me. Already I have far more energy than I have had in a long time.
I hope everyone achieves their goals here. You won't hear me saying "good luck," since I don't believe in luck. I believe our results are dependent on our efforts, so all the best!5 -

New to this group. Just starting back on MFP. Definitely have a little weight to rim off, but more trying to build muscle and need some accountability. Dropped off of my gym routine, because I allowed everything to get in the way. However I plan to start back the this weekend, not because it is the 1st, but because everything will finally be calmed down. So hello and good luck to everyone!4

Also new to this group, but have been (back) on MFP for 60 days now, have logged my food faithfully on most of those and also managed to stay under my calories, except for the Christmas week with visiting children etc. I lost 7 kg until then but put two back on. My exercise programme was also in a mess, but I got back on track today, in spite of lunch with friends. I need the challenge and support! I still have 17 kg to go, hope to get there by my birthday in July...6

Been a member of myfitnesspal for years and JUST discovered the groups section! Accountability is just what I needed from this app. I am a working mother and law student so my schedule is hectic and it is just to easy to eat what is easy and catch up on my to-do list rather than working out - BUT I know that I will feel better and get more done if I make better choices. Looking forward to trying this out5

Welcome to the new people and lots of familiar members. I've been in the group for the last 5 or 6 months. My BMI and weight are where I want to be after a lifelong weight struggle. MFP challenges are a big factor in maintaining my healthy weight. This group is great because it focuses on doing the basics
