Starting Over Advice

I fell off the fitness wagon about a year ago, I'm getting back to it now. I've been running for a few months, but I'm ready to switch it up and make weights my main exercise. I've played with sl before but never got far because I'd always try to "improve" the program. This time I decided to just follow sl exactly as it says.
This morning was my first workout A, and I really struggled with it. I don't think I hit depth on my squats, and while I did the 65lbs row, my form was crap. The only thing that was easy was bp. Should I continue with the program as is, or deload and work on form? TIA

There isn't a reason to keep trying rows with 65lbs (or any exercise with more weight) if your form was bad. You should always warm-up with just the bar anyway at this point, so I'd say feel your way into it, see when form starts to break down and start from there. Especially starting back up, you will make more progress doing a bit lighter weight with proper form than trying to push it and developing bad motor patterns.
The first few weeks of doing something, you're going to progress more out of general adaptation than muscle gain, anyway. (As learned from physio recently, it actually takes 6-8 weeks for strength to actually increase significantly. The rest of the early improvements is only your mind/muscle connection getting better)4 -
Definitely work on form and get that down....it will benefit you a lot as you add weight.1

Start low, what u think is low start lower. I was off training for about 2 years from injury to my abdominals & left hip. Slow and steady core work did me wonders and now I can lift more than I believed I’d ever to get to again2

Keep going! Drop the weight or work in form. Ignore your pride! I did the 5x5 program consistently for a year a couple years back and was doing fantastic. Work and moving away disrupted it. Now I'm back at it and back down at an embarrassingly low weight. BUT I'm doing it to make sure my form is perfect, supporting muscles and tendons are strong enough to handle the increasing weight that I'll eventually put on them.
Remember, muscle memory is an amazing thing. You'll get back faster into it than the first time through. We got this!0
