The two pictures above were taken in San Antonio, Texas. Yesterday, it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2 C). The Alamo story in Texas evokes the same emotions as the Battle of Thermopylae does for the Greeks. A few hundred vs thousands.
The hotel in which Rose and I stayed is name The Crockett Hotel, which honors a legendary American figure, Davy Crockett, who died in the battle of the Alamo vs. Mexican military forces. Don’t ask who was in the right, as both sides believed they were in the right.
Back to the waffle: it’s cooked in a waffle iron customized to make waffles in the shape of the state of Texas.
Texas is our second largest state. Alaska is the largest, but includes enormous wilderness area within the Artic.5 -
@PaisleyFlower here is a cactus photo from Texas. That area is very different than the Sonoran desert in Arizona. This was growing inside the landscaped gardens of the historic Alamo6 -

Drizzling rain most of the day. However did take family out and we now have a second cat again.
Visited 2 rescue shelters. Was only going to get a cat if it fit with the family. The one we found was a 1yo female medium hair tabby that is very affectionate and loves to be with people.

Beautiful cat, @craigo3154 ! It looks like she will have you all wrapped around her furry little toe right away.
I'm off to hear the amazing Maurizio Pollini play Chopin and Debussy this afternoon. Then dinner with a close friend - hoping to stick within the good limits! Will let you know later...5 -
@craigo3154 Lovely cat - very much like a rescue cat I had many years ago. She had been born in a shed, had cat flu while very young and missed the key socialisation window, so unlike your girl she was not friendly!. It was a real achievement the first time she sidled up onto my knee (pretending I was part of the couch) when she was about 9 or 10 yrs old. Still miss her, and her mother who we adopted at the same time. Enjoy her.
I have exercised and tracked every day, and am under my net calorie goal for the week, but have been over some days and under others. Will see how my weight loss is affected.3 -

I tried my best to track the tapas-like dinner - listed every ingredient I could guess at but surely missed some. I skipped lunch and had very reasonable portions so I think all is ok for today! Just more crazy fast walking for exercise but will get to a gym tomorrow...
The concert and dinner were wonderful even though Pollini is showing his age- we should all how to be that good at 76!2 -

This pass week has been very challenging. It's so good to be able to come back to routines.4 -
@craigo3154 Congratulations on the new family cat!1

Pass Day: 4. unfortunately I ate at a café yesterday which effected me today, so I had to couch it and not exercise.
So all out of pass days but I’m going to keep going It will all be about slow improvement for me. At the moment my current philosophy is to “keep the lasso wide”. Meaning, I’m just working to start where I am, keep my calorie count reasonably high and go to the gym 4x a week (plus gentle movement on the other days for this challenge!). Once I do that more consistently I will do more. In the past I try to be far too perfect and then fall over and quit. I’m trying something new.
@RangerRickL loving the flowers on that cactus! I might have to start uploading images of New Zealand natives plants!
@craigo3154 that cat is lovely, well done on adopting a shelter cat. My husband is allergic to cats, so I just befriend all the neighbourhood cats instead!
