 Thanks.
I walk between 3,000 and 5,000 over the course of a slow work day (that jumps to over 7,000 when we get super busy a couple of times a year). At least 1,500 of those steps are just to-ing and fro-ing from the ladies room from drinking all that water. I work in the office the furthest away from the ladies room. I work in the office the furthest away from the ladies room.
Since starting to use the gym five weeks ago, I've been on a mission of using the treadmill to complete my steps to a minimum daily goal. Three quarters of the number is pure walking, but the other quarter is coming from pedaling on a stationary bike. My Fitbit Zip (it's a tiny synced pedometer, about the width of my thumb) adds in my stationary bike work as steps too. Initially, I thought I should maybe take off the pedometer when using the bike, but then that seemed overly legalistic as to what I used for definition of steps. Since my legs are moving, I'm sweating, and my heart rate is up, I'm okay with letting Fitbit add the bike pedaling to the entire step count. When I enter the time for my stationary bike in MFP, the adjustment for steps is reduced, so both Fitbit and MFP are not double counting the credit.1
