Yesterday there were some wonderful exchanges of encouragement between our team members. One of those was this exchange between @jjcat and @MadisonMolly2017

Well....it is tempting not to sign in amidst everyone’s success, but I will own it, to hopefully avoid what happened occurring again (too often).
Today I was involved in some snaccidents which obviously put the calorie count way over. They were not even worthwhile snaccidents or favourites etc sadly.
Anyway.....onwards and upwards.
@jjjcat Thank you for signing in! That’s the way to success!
Your insight that your snaccidents (love this word) were not worthwhile, nor favorites will lead you to better outcomes in the future!! We might as well make sure every calorie delights us, no?!
“The winner is not the one who never falls, but the one who gets up Fastest!”
The Race
attributed to Dr. D.H. "Dee" Groberg
Whenever I start to hang my head in front of failure’s face,
my downward fall is broken by the memory of a race.
A children’s race, young boys, young men; how I remember well,
excitement sure, but also fear, it wasn’t hard to tell.
They all lined up so full of hope, each thought to win that race
or tie for first, or if not that, at least take second place.
Their parents watched from off the side, each cheering for their son,
and each boy hoped to show his folks that he would be the one.
The whistle blew and off they flew, like chariots of fire,
to win, to be the hero there, was each young boy’s desire.
One boy in particular, whose dad was in the crowd,
was running in the lead and thought “My dad will be so proud.”
But as he speeded down the field and crossed a shallow dip,
the little boy who thought he’d win, lost his step and slipped.
Trying hard to catch himself, his arms flew everyplace,
and midst the laughter of the crowd he fell flat on his face.
As he fell, his hope fell too; he couldn’t win it now.
Humiliated, he just wished to disappear somehow.
But as he fell his dad stood up and showed his anxious face,
which to the boy so clearly said, “Get up and win that race!”
He quickly rose, no damage done, behind a bit that’s all,
and ran with all his mind and might to make up for his fall.
So anxious to restore himself, to catch up and to win,
his mind went faster than his legs. He slipped and fell again.
He wished that he had quit before with only one disgrace.
“I’m hopeless as a runner now, I shouldn’t try to race.”
But through the laughing crowd he searched and found his father’s face
with a steady look that said again, “Get up and win that race!”
So he jumped up to try again, ten yards behind the last.
“If I’m to gain those yards,” he thought, “I’ve got to run real fast!”
Exceeding everything he had, he regained eight, then ten...
but trying hard to catch the lead, he slipped and fell again.
Defeat! He lay there silently. A tear dropped from his eye.
“There’s no sense running anymore! Three strikes I’m out! Why try?
I’ve lost, so what’s the use?” he thought. “I’ll live with my disgrace.”
But then he thought about his dad, who soon he’d have to face.
“Get up,” an echo sounded low, “you haven’t lost at all,
for all you have to do to win is rise each time you fall.
Get up!” the echo urged him on, “Get up and take your place!
You were not meant for failure here! Get up and win that race!”
So, up he rose to run once more, refusing to forfeit,
and he resolved that win or lose, at least he wouldn’t quit.
So far behind the others now, the most he’d ever been,
still he gave it all he had and ran like he could win.
Three times he’d fallen stumbling, three times he rose again.
Too far behind to hope to win, he still ran to the end.
They cheered another boy who crossed the line and won first place,
head high and proud and happy -- no falling, no disgrace.
But, when the fallen youngster crossed the line, in last place,
the crowd gave him a greater cheer for finishing the race.
And even though he came in last with head bowed low, unproud,
you would have thought he’d won the race, to listen to the crowd.
And to his dad he sadly said, “I didn’t do so well.”
“To me, you won,” his father said. “You rose each time you fell.”
And now when things seem dark and bleak and difficult to face,
the memory of that little boy helps me in my own race.
For all of life is like that race, with ups and downs and all.
And all you have to do to win is rise each time you fall.
And when depression and despair shout loudly in my face,
another voice within me says, “Get up and win that race!”
Our UAC friends do make each of us better!! Thanks to both @jjcat and to @MadisonMolly2017

Thank you for reposting @jjcat and @MadisonMolly2017 comments, the poem has a great sentiment.
Today I am having a pass day (this will be number two), as we're off to a food festival locally. We've been each year since it started, all the neighbours go along so it's a great social. There isn't usually a lot of eating, just a few nibbles and lots of demonstrations but it isn't possible to record accurately.5 -
Yes x3 today for me.
I thought today would be my first pass day but I managed to stay on top of things! This challenge has been great for addressing my mindset, particularly the 'Oh I won't bother counting this' or 'meh, I'll just write today off' or 'I'll never find this in the database and ccb adding it myself, but I'll eat it anyway' justifications I have often made when eating things I know probably don't fit in to my calories. I'm starting to find ways to count everything, and am now choosing not to eat foods I can't log.6 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Yes.. Cardio
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
I loved the sharing of the race and also the snackcident not being worth it. Glad was reposted. I came to that conclusion a while back..it's rarely worth it!
Love that our group is so positive and making good choices especially when it goes against our habits! Mindset is everything!
Last day in Bermuda! Flying back to Florida in the states tomorrow. I sure am going to miss this water!

@RangerRickL, you wrote to me yesterday... Is it on the outside of your knee, the Iliotibial band? If that is the case, I have that problem too. The IT band irritation is inflammation due to imperfect alignment of the foot to hip structure and the tight fit of the IT band at the knee. It is caused by the excess stress from running; treadmill; biking and other repetitive leg movements.
Check out Youtube.com for a myriad of opinions about how best to treat.
No, my knee pain is on the inside of my kneecap. It's this one little spot that hurts. It was better yesterday but started hurting in the night. I think because of the way I had my leg bent while sleeping. It's been good today with only a slight ache happening right now. I'm really ready for it to be better so I can resume workouts. I will look for Youtube videos to see what I can learn. Thanks!!2 -

Firstly, a huge thank you for the support I received after my Friday snaccidents post. @MadisonMolly2017 Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to acknowledge and support me. Being honest about slip ups helps me stay on track but it has made an even bigger difference to me to have been actively supported like that. Thank you for your kindness.
Happily, today involved no snaccidents.

Exercised?: Yes (23+km in 4 hours - Sightseeing Madrid)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
LONG walk today. 30C (86F) in Madrid during the day. Stopped for lunch along the way.
Unfortunately a lot o road work around Puerto de Sol and Gran Via, so traversing those areas was particularly slow (and crowded).
The average tourist is SLOW. Feel like I almost need to stop to go slower. Cannot be just because they are looking around, as I am looking around too.
Plan to have a look around the "El Rastro Market" tomorrow morning.
Will post some photos tomorrow.1 -

@jjjcat
You are truly welcome! And how kind of you @RangerRickL to repost!
I think that being honest with ourselves may well be the *most* important attribute for success in this Journey!
I always feel some shame when I have a Pass Day, but usually it leads to learning & better handling of future, similar situations!
In fact, I had Pass Day #2 yesterday, Sep 14 ... I have been really hungry in the last few days. I am unwilling to be that hungry, so I went over by 195. I exercised 69 minutes and tracked everything.
What I learned: I need to fuel my body, but I’d like my calorie deficit to be > 0.
So, today, I switched a few things.
I added a couple of ounces of pork to my breakfast.
And at bedtime, I will eat a little chicken if needed (not nuts!!)
I’m hoping some more meat spread throughout day will shift the hunger signals back to where they were.
If not, I’ll try something else.
Interestingly, this morning I zoomed past my long term goal of -70 pounds...
My Dr & I agreed to my losing up to 8 more pounds! Almost there.

Pass Day the next.
I chose to watch series and eat popcorn instead of doing the run I planned in the rain and wind. It was the right choice for the day because I'm super tired from a hard week of training and I knew I would get to bed late as I was babysitting my nieces and nephew.
As per my other comment, today I will get back on the logging train...1 -

Yes x 3.
Had my shingrix (shingles) vaccine on Friday, and have been sick as a dog with fevers/chills and fatigue. My doctor didn't warn me of these side effects, but it's on the CDC website that they last 2-3 days. Ah well, better than getting shingles, but it's been a rough couple of days.2 -
